ONCE UPON A TIME, and still to this day, a woman sat by herself. An ocean swallows her whole, the girl enthralled by the past, and torrential grief crashed through her. Eroding her, chipping her away. Eating her alive, scraping all her skin away until she was a raw-boned thing, flayed red, until her lungs were wet formless clay and she was screaming by the age of eight.

And yet she sat there, soundless, paralyzed, because who would come for little Addie? Who would hold her and whisper: It's over now, sweet little Addie. You are safe. Because it would never be over again, it was termless, there was no comfort left for her since that night two decades ago. The anguish was always new again. All her healing reversed. Wasted. The only confidant to be had been her father, now a cork bobbing on vast, endless, smoke-smeared seas. A distant echo, a curse of past and present. In answer, he fell to his knees and dusted her off, a wild inferno heart was his blessing, his curse, his deadliest flaw. But for the once young and helpless, hazel-eyed child . . . she knew he would never hurt them.

How much blood has she seen, and felt? The same ones that held her favorite toy, played card games, hugged her family like they were the most precious gift in the world.

Chaos plugging an indifferent time, the woman with raven hair asked herself: am I still that gentle heart? Unseeingly, she moved, crawling through fog, through disaster, through temporary peace, through foul pine and vile sins, always losing. Head pulsing, the shipwreck strangling her vitality. But it was there . . . when damnation schemed with her from the end's beginning.

𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫'𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞:

This story was originally going to be on Quotev only, but I have decided to revamp this short story on here for the meantime. There will be six chapters.

Abraham's Daughter takes place during The Last Of Us: Left Behind timeline and will be included in a four novel trilogy.

Abraham's Daughter is the second initial book of my TLOU series 'Beyond' and is currently the character teaser arc for the character Addie.

𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬:
