This was a fantastic day. Xu Ran had also harvested a basket of soybeans and a bag of potatoes in addition to two full baskets of chili. Liu Tong had hunted a variety of wild animals. More importantly, he had discovered a still-living roe deer.
When this type of roe deer was available, it was much more costly. It might be able to survive until tomorrow morning with its leg wounded, so Xu Ran urged Liu Tong to sell it in the market tomorrow.
They had a lot of stuff and it was getting late, so Xu Ran told Liu Tong, "You take the kids home first, Tongtong. I'll be around to keep an eye on our belongings. Maybe you can come back here and pick up some things with me, and then we'll go back together."
Liu Tong gave Xu Ran a sidelong look. He got the roe deer and returned home with their children without saying anything.
The two children each had their own back-basket. They even managed to bring more than half of the pepper-filled back-basket.
The sun had just set, but the sky had not yet turned dark. Xu Ran became bored and went back to digging potatoes with his hoe.
He was afraid that if word got out about this potato field, everyone would rush up here to get a piece of it. For the sake of their family, that would be the end. As a result, it was preferable to move more quickly.
Liu Tong returned quickly, sweating profusely on his forehead. It was obvious that he had gotten here on the run.
Xu Ran approached him and wiped the sweat from his forehead with his sleeve "Why are you running in such a hurry? You're now soaking wet"
Liu Tong gave a coy smile but said nothing. He was only worried that Ran would be scared alone in the mountains, but he didn't say so.
The two of them worked together. Xu Ran carried the soybean, while Liu Tong carried the remaining basket of chili pepper on his back with a bag of potatoes on his shoulder.
Xu Ran's ego as a man had been challenged by seeing his man be so strong. In fact, his body had already recovered; he was not ill or in any pain. Everything else was fine, except for a slight lack of strength.
When they went back, Xu Ran saw that Dahu and Yueya'er were also at their home.
Xu Ran put down the things and asked, "Oh, what brings you guys here?"
When Liu Tong returned to the mountain for the second time, Dahu and Yueya'er arrived. "Uncle Xu Ran, Daddy Liu Tong, our daddy asked us to invite you for dinner," they said as soon as they saw Xu Ran and Liu Tong return.
Dahu was rubbed on the head by Xu Ran "Return home and inform your daddy that we are not going today. We've just returned from the mountain, and we've bought some food. In a few days, we'll pay you a visit."
Dahu could tell by Xu Ran's serious expression that he would not join him. He walked away with Yueya'er without saying anything.
"Dahu, wait a moment, take some potatoes with you!" Xu Ran stopped Dahu and asked Liu Tong to pack some potatoes for Dahu.
Dahu thanked him and went back with his little brother.
They were escorted to the door by Xu Ran "Keep an eye on your step! By the way, tell your daddy that Daddy Liu Tong is coming to town tomorrow, and that he will be waiting for you at the village entrance."
"Got it." Dahu turned back and shouted.
Xu Ran did not go back into the room until he lost sight of those two kids completely .
In the kitchen, Liu Tong was already busy preparing their meal. Those two rabbits were being played with by Tangtang and Guoguo. "Tangtang, let's keep these two rabbits!" Xu Ran laughed, seeing how pleased they were. "So, what do you say?"
