That Friday evening Mike took me on a date to the movies. I'm still at his house, he just doesn't trust me by myself yet. By being at his house, I don't have to best clothing for a date specifically.
"Aren't your friends wondering why you aren't hanging out with them?" I ask as I brush my hair for the date.
"Not really, I don't really wanna hangout with them because I get enough of them during school."
"Oh, oh." I respond and I look at his outfit. Way better than mine if I'm being honest. He's wearing brown slacks and a plaid flannel on top, which cuirasses his shoulders and making him look good, great even.
"What are you looking at?" He asks and I realize I was staring.
"You," Is all I respond and he drives us to the movies.
He guides me inside the movie theater to a giant, open room. There were lines of people waiting to get movie tickets, snacks and drinks, or both. We get in a line that sells both tickets and popcorn and wait patiently. As we're waiting I take in my surroundings, the movie posters to the bathroom signs. People were smiling all around us and taking pictures with the posters, couples holding hands after just coming out of the movies together. We get to the counter and Mike tells the worker what movie we want to watch.
"Any snacks?" He asks.
"You're the only snack I see." I whisper in Mike's ear.
"Just a popcorn and a soda, please." Mike responds and shoves his elbow into my ribs, making me chuckle.
We go into the theater for our movie and sit in the middle row to watch it.
"The movie is really starting to fill up," I say as the screen starts to show the 'put your phone away' ad.
"Yeah it is. I didn't know it was so popular." Mike responds while eating some popcorn.
"It's all good. Just proves you picked a good movie." He chuckles at my joke and I place an arm around his shoulder, which he leans into. The movie is over in a couple hours and it was getting dark. I wait for Mike as he goes into the bathroom and I notice a couple girls staring and pointing at me. I wave at them and that makes them giggle. Mike comes out at this time and I grab his hand, the girls gasping in realization; I smile.
"Soooo, are we dating? Like boyfriend and boyfriend?" Mike asks nervously.
"Yes, we are dating. Boyfriend and boyfriend." I say.
He lets out a quick squeal and starts up the car to drive back to his house. His parents and sister are watching a movie of their own when we get home and they all look in our direction. Mike just nods and they all jump and run to hug him. I think Mike starts to cry, but I believe they are happy tears, glad he met someone who meant so much to him. We say goodnight to his family and head up to his room to go to bed.
"I gotta tell Charlie, he's like my best friend." Mike gives me a concerning look. "I will tell him to not tell anyone, not even my other friends." This assures him and I quickly call him. He was excited for the both of us and promised me no one would find out.
I throw off my shirt and throw it into the pile I've created in my corner. I decided to wear a shirt to bed so his parents don't think we did anything (you know what I mean) but I'll just sleep in my boxers.
Mike comes back into the room after showering with a towel wrapped around his waist. I go and wrap my arms around his shoulder as he grabs some clothes to sleep in. His wet brown hair tickles the side of my face which makes me smile more.
"You smell good," I say and then go sit on his bed, waiting for him to come over.
"I would hope so, I just showered. Can you close your eyes or something."
"Shy, now are we?" I say and lean back on the bed with my hands over my eyes.
"Shut up." Mike says and quickly changes.
"Are you don-" I don't get to finish my sentence because he jumps on top of me. "Ow!" I exclaim and laugh with him. I sit up so he is sitting on my lap and I run my finger along his face, capturing his facial features with my touch.
"Haha, look who's on top now." He exclaims.
"Oh, you shouldn't have said that," I stand up with him and flip him over on the bed, his back to the bed, me now on top. I see a slight hint of fear in his eyes, than after a second its shock. I use my finger and thumb to lift up his chin to look at me better. "Look who's on top now, buddy boy." I tease.
This makes him blush and I remove myself from on top of him. I go over onto my bed and get myself settled in for sleep. I glance over at Mike and he's looking at me with wide eyes.
"Yes?" I ask him.
"I thought...I thought we could..." He gestures toward the open bed. "Sleep next to each?"
"Oh, of course we can."
I get up and walk over to his bed and lay down next to him. I'm the little spoon, his right arm wrapped around my chest and his head at the back of my neck. I feel so safe right now for a change, I don't think I've felt this before.
I got to kill someone, and soon...
That Sunday Mike takes me home reluctantly, and I assure him that I will be just fine on my own.
"I'll see you tomorrow, alright?" I tell him and kiss him on the cheek. He leaves and I'm left to the house to myself.
The house is silent, a silent that would drive most crazy and out of their mind, but at times I actually like it. This silent can get me to think about my next murderous plan. I take a shower and let the water overcome me, the warm waters from the shower sink into every part of my body. I get out of the shower and look at myself in the mirror, my eyes piercing me in the mirror and I look at what Mike is dating.
Looking sexy, Max...
I decide to sleep with no clothes on, because no one is going to see me anyway and I learned that sleeping naked is better for the body, let's it breathe better.
The next day at school when I get to school, I meet up with Charlie and them. I see Mike with his friends and make eye contact with him, then turn away so no one notices. I'm listening to Charlie argue when I hear something I don't want to.
"Mike, I can't believe you're dating a guy."
