My breath turned laboured by his one look. The intensity in his eyes made me shiver. Why does he have so much control over me?

We didn't move for a few minutes, just gaping at each other like deer caught in from of a headlight.

My heart broke a little further when I see dark bags under his eyes. He looks so exhausted. Was he thinking about me too? But as he took the first step towards me every thought flew out of the window.

My heart starts to thud against the rib cage violently and my legs feel wobbly. I don't want to face him.

Fortunately, there were a lot of people between us. I quickly snapped out of my dazed form and took advantage of the crowd between us.

Someone was about to kill someone? My inner self mocked me.

Shut up! I got startled-

I was so engrossed in my thoughts that didn't pay attention ahead and bumped into someone.

You are honestly the biggest clutz this world has seen.

Yeah, like I didn't know.

"Hey! Are you ok?" Wait I recognise this voice.

I lift my gaze from the ground and indeed I know this person.

Brad.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I waved off his statement and looked around to check if I accomplished my mission to get away from my doom.

Just in time Zack rounds up the corner and saw me with Brad.

Oh no! I don't want round 2 of Friday night's events and I absolutely do not like confrontations.

Zack looks disappointed after seeing me with Brad. Why does he get to be disappointed even though he did the mistake?

I can see the wheels moving in his head. He is contemplating if it's the best idea to talk to me here, in front of everyone. At last, he decides against it and walked away.

I released a long breath of relief I didn't know I was holding till now.

"I hate that guy." Brad's voice brought me back to the present time.

I don't. I can't.

But instead of giving a reply I just stand there silently.

"Why we're you in a hurry?" He asked, at last, referring to my panic feat from a few minutes ago.

"Oh, I forgot something in Kate's car." I try to fabricate a lie.

"Hmm, let's go then. I'll come with you." He believed me.

Zack wouldn't have. He would have caught it the moment I started talking.

"No, I can manage without it," I replied a little too quickly.

"Ok, if you feel like-" he couldn't complete his sentence because someone cut him off.

"Vanilla," his unsure voice piped in from behind me.

I shut my eyes tightly as well as balled my fist to control my emotions. Don't turn around and everything will be ok?

"You are really annoying man," Brad said in an irritated tone.

I used to hate it whenever someone talks something ill about Zack and I'm furious to know that it hasn't changed even now.

"I'm not talking to you." Zack's voice was sharper than a blade.

"How dare-" I placed my hand on Brad's shoulder to stop him.

This is my mess, I can't hide behind someone else and wait for everything to fall into place.
