The police would eventually arrive.
Would they know it was me? Have I done a good enough job of hidding everything? Lord knew they could never pin this on me, no evidence. The perfect crime.
"Oh god, no!" The woman screamed. "My babies, please dear god, you have to find my babies!" Her husband tried to console her. He tried to ease her pain. But inside, he was just as hollow and empty as her. They both bore this terrible burden, this inconsolable, wretched pain. The woman was screaming violently.
The officers were frightened. What could they say or do to ease the pain? How could they ease the burden?
I know how you feel, miss. No, that was a lie. Only a few poor souls would know that feeling. A parent's worst nightmare.
It will be all right. No, that was a lie too. Nothing would ever be all right ever again.
"My babies, oh god, please! You have to find my babies!" She started to hyperventilate. Her massive build heaving and panting for air. Her moo-moo rose and fell with each strangled breath.
"Help her!" Cried the husband. "She can't breathe!"
The officers ran over to her. The paramedics came instantly. She was having a nervous breakdown. She was dying from the shock.
The husband stood there, helpless, watching as they tried to lift her bulk onto the ambulance. His whole world was being taken from him. He started to cry.
"My whole family is gone." He proclaimed. "Why god, why have you done this to me?" His voice was filled with madness, a perfect mixture of sadness and rage.
"Now calm down, sir." The woman officer said. "She'll be all right. She's just going into shock. Anyone would be after what she has just endured. She'll be fine once she calms."
"My children! I'll never see them again."
"Don't give up hope, sir. Never give up. We will find them." The woman officer lied.
She was a big, massive woman. The shock caused her pulse to quicken, and her quivering heart could not pump enough blood through her already clogged arteries. Her brain was not getting enough oxygen. Her pulse was weakening. She passed out. The paramedics were doing everything they could.
They rushed her to the ER. The doctors put her on a ventilator. They steadied her vitals.
"What the hell does this woman eat?" Questioned one of the ER doctors. "Her blood pressure is extremely high, her arteries are horribly corroded. Her veins are thick like sausages."
"Well look how big she is." Laughed the other doctor.
"She needs a diet." Said the woman physician.
"She needs to stop eating raw meat." Said the first doctor.
"Yeah, and no more swallowing whole turkeys!" Joked the second doctor again. And they all burst into laughter at the poor woman's expense.
Where am I?
I don't feel so good. Am I safe? Am I in trouble? No, I did it. I had fooled them. I knew there was no way to catch me. How could they? There was no evidence. There was nothing left but bones, which I burned in the fireplace and grounded up into ashes and scattered in the wind. The perfect crime. I'm free. I'm a genius. My stomach hurts though.
"Burp!"
