He walked through the front doors, nobody even giving him a sideways glance.

I saw him. He wore a black sweater , and he kept his hood up. I could see strands of blonde hair poking out from under his hoodie.

His locker was not far from mine, so we were probably in some classes together.

No kids approached him, and he looked a little down.

Not being high in the popularity tree myself, and not having many friends at all, I decided it wouldn't hurt to make a new friend.

Or maybe it would.

I walked up to him while he was digging through his locker. He looked around fifteen, my age.

"Hi" I chirped happily. The kid jumped and turned around, looking a bit frightened.

"Are you okay?" I asked. He nodded.

"What's your name?" I extended my hand for him to shake.

"L-Liu... Yours?"

"Jenny. What class do you have first period?" I said, giving him a warm smile.

"E-English" He looked around, as if expecting to see something. I noticed that he stuttered. Was he scared of something?

"Are you okay? You seem, paranoid"

"I'm fine, just a bit nervous. I just moved here from Wesconsin, I kinda left my friends behind. If not my life" I nodded deeply in understanding.

The bell rang, and I showed him to the English classroom.

Before we could start the lesson, the loudspeaker crackled, and the vice principal called a lock-down drill.

I huddled up in the corner, and of course, nobody ever took these seriously.

Nobody eccept for Liu.

Liu had a spark of fear in his neon-green eyes. He kept extremely quiet, and barely moved or breathed. He covered his mouth, and pushed his small frame against the bookshelf. He hugged his knees to his chest.

As if it was the real thing, and he had experienced it before.

Soon the lock-down ended, and we were told to take our seats.

Liu was shaking. I wonder why he was so freaked out. Did he move here for a reason? Was there something he had to get away from in Wesconsin?

We had also been doing lock-down drills more frequently, as there had been a string of murders in our area. The case was still unsolved, and the murderer was still at large.

Before I knew it, four boring classes has passed, and it was time for lunch.

Liu followed me around, but it was probably because he was new. I decided I would let him sit with me and Natalie.

Our table was on the far end of the cafeteria, away from the popular kids and the Jocks, who picked on us.

Kayla, the head if the cheerleading team, was always messing with the unpopular kids. We steered clear of her.

"Liu, aren't you gonna eat anything?" He shook his head and looked down.

"Not hungry" he replied quietly.

Natalie came over and sat down next to me, and looked at Liu, a puzzled expression on her face.

"Who's he?" She asked, still staring at Liu.

"Liu. He's a new kid. He seemed lonely, so I let him sit here" she nodded and started to eat her pizza.

I wouldn't dare eat that crappy School food. I sat there silently and started to eat a sandwich.

And then she came over.
