"To escape fear, you have to go through it, not around it."

-Richie Norton

I froze in my tracks as I heard the guards. Gulping, I started to walk towards them, doing as they told me. X or Xion, grabbed my arm, pulling me back inside the building, slamming the door shut.

"Looks like we need to find another exit," He said, rushing around before seeing the stairs leading higher up, "Follow me."

He took off running, not checking once to make sure I was still behind him. I followed after him, running up the stairs and hearing them crack underneath our feet. I never went upstairs, so I didn't even know if there was another way out or if we were just trapping ourselves inside.

X looked around once again when he reached the top, his face lighting up as he noticed something that I couldn't see.

"Okay so I found our way out, but you have to trust me," He grabbed my hand, pulling me to the furthest corner of the room where there was a hole in the wall. I looked down at the ground below, glancing up at X.

"I don't want to, considering I just met you, but I don't think I have much of a choice, " I told him, zipping my bag shut after shoving my notebook back inside.

X grinned at my words before pushing me back from the hole. He stood back a little, kicking at the wall a couple of times before it was big enough for us to get through.

"I'll jump first then I'll catch you," He spoke looking directly at me before doing just as he said, jumping out of the hole and onto the ground below.

I was about to call out to him to tell him how crazy he seemed, but I had no choice except to jump when I noticed the guards climbing the stairs. I sighed heavily, putting my bag on my back before jumping , not glancing back even for a second when I did. I squeezed my eyes shut, petrified that I was going to hit the ground, before feeling someone catch me right before that could happen.

"I told you I'd catch you," A chuckle was let out as I was set onto my feet. X looked behind us before grabbing my hand, pulling me towards the woods.

"We can hide in here until they leave," X added, ducking down and pulling my arm for me to duck also.

We stayed in the woods, completely engulfed in silence while we waited for the guards to go by. Once they passed, I looked at X.

"Soo, can I go home now?" I asked breaking the killer silence, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Are you joking right now? Thats the first place they're going to look," He shook his head, a noticeable frown marking his face.

"They're most likely already looked there first but fine. Where do you think I should go?" I huffed, not liking this idea already.

"Just come with me," He chuckled, pulling me towards the building again.

As we walked towards the side of the building, I noticed a motorcycle parked along the wall. Coincidentally the same direction we were walking to.

"Hop on," X grinned, grabbing the bike from where it was leaning.

"Hell no. Nope. Not happening whatsoever," I shook my head, crossing my arms defiantly. I was NOT getting on a death machine with a stranger who could've been trying to kill me.

"This is our only means of transportation we have right now, so either hop on or walk to where we're going and risk getting caught."

I thought for a second before sighing, going over to the bike and sitting on the seat behind X, grabbing onto his shoulders as I did.

X drove through the main streets, right in the opening of the town, before heading down an alleyway. He pulled up to a door, parking the bike we were on and turned the ignition off.

"They won't find us here," X muttered, knocking on the door in some sort of coded knock, as if whatever this place was wasn't one where many people visited.

The door unlocked right afterwards and opened slightly. X walked inside with me trailing after him. It was dark inside, yet I could see the outline of the tall dark-haired man walking better than I could from outside.

He finally led us to another door that finally had a light inside.

"Where are we at?" I whispered, looking hesitant.

"My home," he told me, noticing the slight hint of fear that was evidently growing on my face, "I stay here so that no one from this fucked up world knows where I'm at."

"Did you check for bugs X?"

"Blaine! Just the girl I was hoping to find!" X exclaimed as a girl who looked older than both of us walked over, her arms crossed over her chest. "This is Brynnleigh."

"I don't care who she is, no offense sweetheart, but she could have a bug planted on her or she could be spying for Orien." Blaine huffed, glaring over at me.

"You don't understand. Her father is Thomas Avery! You should see her notebook!" My eyes snapped back to X as soon as those words left his mouth.

My fathers notebook. It was beaten up and had stories upon stories of those who randomly disappeared.

"Really X?" I glared at him, shaking my head. "I'm not going to be used for something I have! I'd much rather turn myself in!"

X's eyes shot open as soon as he heard me, his mouth opening to begin protesting what I said.

"She's feisty Xion. I can see her dad in her," Blaine smirked, nudging X's shoulder as she began to walk towards me. "Don't worry brynnie, no one's using you for anything. You can stay here as long as you'd like. Just don't cause any problems like this one."

She glanced at X, her smirk becoming only slightly more serious. "And you. Don't go being a dick to her. She's been through enough already."

Blaine walked away, going further into the dark warehouse, leaving me to soon get lost in my thoughts with X standing right next to me.
