Sometimes the worlds felt blended into one another, you forgot how they were not here with you, not always, they were but they weren't in a funny way. You would go day after day and sometimes you would have no luck, no visit was shared for months and sometimes you worried that they would forget you. But they did not.

They would wait because that is what you would do for them, forever if you had to, that's how it always was, how it had to be.

Finally, after nights and nights of hard work, your promise to them came true. You went home again, this time for longer you hoped, hours were years here but neither of you felt like it was enough. It never was.

"Welcome back" You felt a hand on your shoulder and that's when you knew to open your eyes. This time it wasn't them, it was their friend. "they are waiting" he whispers, tugging at your sleeve. "They are waiting, its been long enough, come now". With those words you sit up, fully realizing that you had done it again, you had gone home.

"Hey" The familiar voice sends chills down your spine and you rush into their arms, their embrace feels hazy and there is a familiar glow to everything around you, to them even, like the brightness was turned up slightly. It was perfect. They were perfect.

"I made it back" You whispered, feeling the tears begin to fall into their soft clothing. they smiled, you could tell by the huff of air that exited their nose. It was that silly side smile that they knew you adored.

"Come on, a few things have changed since you've been here, let me show you everything" They said, tugging at your hand.

"Everything? Again?" You ask, smiling at the feel of their hand.

"Yeah, everything. don't you want it to feel like the first time all over again?" They ask, a hint of longing in their eyes. Like they want to make these visits permanent. Like things without you here were worse, like it was hard to keep going with these long pauses in between visits.

"I do... I do" you whispered, feeling the tears form again. They were right here, but soon you would have to leave. Soon you would see the same faces that you had to see every day and soon when your eyes opened again, you would have to go back to work, back to school, back to another world, your world. Though it didn't feel like that anymore.

"Hurry" They said, smiling back at you through glossy eyes. "We ain't got all day"

And you took their hand before you couldn't, and for the first time in a long time, you felt like you were where you were meant to be.

"Let's go see the others"

And with that, you smiled through the tears and followed them out into the world, out into the place that you knew as home.
