A/N: Hello everyone! Before I get started, I just want to say that it has been a couple years since I've written any fanfiction so I'm sorry if I'm a little rusty, but I have been reading a lot of Levi and Petra fanfics lately and it made me want to write one of my own, considering the last fic I wrote did really well in it's category. I really want to update this story regularly, I don't know how long I want it to be so we will see what happens. Anyways, enough blabbering from me, let's get into it!

"Your Highness".
"Hmmm", Levi groans as he slowly begins to open his eyes.
"Your Highness, it is eight o'clock in the morning, you must get up , you have the meeting with your mother in five minutes", says Levi's butler, Arthur. Arthur was a bit of an older gentleman, he had known Levi since he was born, and has helped taken care of him ever since. As Levi opens his eyes, he sees the room flooded with light due to Arthur opening the grand curtains. The sunlight highlighted the golden crown molding on the large, cream colored marble walls. Levi always thought his room was too big for him, he always wanted something smaller, more simpler. But his mother insisted that he have one of the grandest rooms in the palace, considering he would one day be king of Paradis.
"Did she have to schedule this meeting so early, and do I really have to go?", Levi asks as he sits up out of bed and brushes his hand through his jet-black hair.
"It is about your upcoming birthday and... the fact that you must choose a wife", Arthur tells him.
"Great", Levi says, in a very monotone voice, "This is going to be a fun day", he says sarcastically.
As Levi stepped out of bed, he put on a loose, white button-up shirt and some black dress pants. 'That's nice enough for mother, right?', he questions himself in his head. His mother always expected him to dress in his regular, princely get up. A dark green suit coat and dress pants with a black button-up shirt under it, topped off with his royal medals. But he often just wore a simple, navy blue suit coat with a white shirt and navy blue dress pants. He exited him room and began walking down the grand halls of the palace, passing guards around every corner. He never understood why they needed so many guards. The palace has never been directly attacked by the rebels, so there was never any danger. However, he did notice that security was tighter after his father, the King, was assassinated 15 years ago. But that was during their vacation to Marley, not at the palace. Levi pondered on these things as he walked toward his mother's office.
"You are late Levi", says his mother as he walks into the room.
"My apologies mother, I did not sleep well last night and therefore it was hard for me to get up this morning", Levi responds. 'And I also loathed the idea of coming to this meeting', he thinks to himself.
"Have a seat son", she gestures with her hand to a seat in front of her desk. "We have much to talk about this morning".
"Yes mother I bet we do", Levi snaps back. His mother ignores his comment and resumes talking.
"As you know, your twenty fifth birthday is next week, which means we must begin the final preparations for your party. You also probably know that you must now begin your search for a wife. I have invited a couple eligible women from different countries for you to meet, but the one you must focus on is Princess Aylin from Marley", she tells him. "Marley is the one country we must unite with in order to take down the rebellion for good".
"So you want me to marry a women and be with her the rest of my life just so you can end one small rebellion just to look good in the eyes of the people?", Levi asks. His mother glared at him, she gave him a glare that he recognized because it was the same one she would always give whenever he spoke out on such things.
"Levi Ackerman it is not your place to say that! Having two people marry to unite two countries is the way it has always been done. I married your father so that Pardis and Eldia could finally unite after one hundred years of war. It is your duty to unite Marley and Paradis", she exclaimed.
"Yeah, we both know you didn't marry him because you loved him", Levi said under his breath. Right as he said that, he realized he said it a little louder than he intended, and his mother slammed her fist on the desk.
"Get out of my sight this instant!", she yelled at him. "You have no say in what happens over the next couple of weeks and I do not care what you have to say about. You will uphold this country's traditions and do your duty as Prince of Paradis. Now get out and do not speak with me the rest of the day", She screamed at him as she pointed to the door.
Levi quickly stood up and rushed out of the room. 'That went better than expected' he thought. He hated the idea of marrying someone not out of love, but out of obligation. Whenever he thought abut marriage, he always knew it most likely be arranged. But a small part of him always wanted to marry a woman who was special to him, someone that he could connect with. However, he knew that would most likely never happen. He thought of these things as he strolled into the kitchen, he really needed a cup of tea right now.
