Alexander's POV
"Hi Mom! Yes, I just got here. I'm still at the parking lot. Will call you when I finished unpacking, okay? Bye."
Today is my first day in my new condo. I've always wanted to be independent so I decided to move-out from my family's house and step outside of my comfort zone to follow my dreams. We are capable in life because of my parents' hard works. My dad is running our own Ceramic Tile and Cement Manufacturing while my mom launched her very own Jewelry Shop a year ago. If you're thinking that I'm a spoiled child, then you're a hundred percent wrong. Our parents raised us believing that if we want something for ourselves, we should work hard for it. That's why growing up, me and my twin sister were always the top-notchers in school. Since I was a kid I have an interest in collecting action figures and before getting one I need to be on top of our class first. It's like Operant Conditioning by B.F. Skinner. The reward and punishment theory, where behavior that is followed by pleasant consequences is likely to be repeated and behavior followed by unpleasant consequences is less likely to be repeated. But don't get me wrong, our parents never punished us.
...
I just finished getting the two boxes full of my things from the back of my car and now heading to the elevator. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time pressing the up button because of the boxes on my hands.
*ding*
"Oh! So lucky!" I whispered to myself.
I waited for the two people to step outside the elevator before going in. As I was about to enter the elevator, the door shut before I step in.
"Sh*t!" I cursed. I turn around to the two people who just came out from the elevator. "Uhm, hey man!" The guy looks at me. "Sorry for the inconvenience, but can you press the up button? I was about to enter the elevator but it immediately closed." Without saying anything, he walks back to the elevator and press the up button. The door opened and I step in. "Uhm... Can you also press the 8th floor button?"
"Yeah sure!" Then he pressed it.
"Thanks man!" I said.
"Anytime. See you around."
*the elevator door closed*
1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8
*ding*
I step out from the elevator and walk towards my room. It's room 808. I put down the boxes from my hands and pull out the keycard from my pocket. And then I realized I could've done it a while back at the elevator.
"Oh yeah! So dumb!" I said while opening the door. I walk inside my room and start unpacking my things. My clothes were already here since yesterday. I just decided to spent the night at our house because my twin sister insisted to have a movie bonding with me. We are really close and I love her so much so I couldn't say no to her.
...
After 2 hours, I'm all done. I look at my wrist watch and it's already passed 12 noon.
"And now I'm hungry. I should go outside to buy some food."
*riiiiiiiiing*
I pull out my phone from my pocket and check who's calling me. It's my mom.
"Hey mom! I was about to call you."
"I don't think so honey. I know you forgot to call me."
I laughed at what my mom said.
"No mom, really. I just finished unpacking and cleaning the room."
