"A-are you sure about this, Lukas?"

You stared deeply into your beloveds sapphire eyes as he returned the stare. Not once blinking while your lids were fluttering away. This had to be a joke! There's no way Lukas, your Lukas, would come up with an idea like that.

"I mean it (name)." Was all he said as he continued to stare back into your shocked eyes.

"But why? Won't you miss your family?"

Lukas pulled his gaze away from yours and looked off to the side in thought. In the back of your mind, you had a feeling of what this was about, but you didn't want to speak of it until you were sure.

"I heard your father speaking the other day with Jarl Køhler." He hesitated to finish. Underneath his usual monotone voice, you could hear a small sense of anguish. "He plans to move the wedding to spring."

Your breath hitched at the sound of this news. Your eyes were already misty and you did your best not to let the tears flood out. No! No this couldn't be! This would mean that you only had 3 weeks left. Three weeks until you'd belong to someone else.

"Is this...Is this the reason you want to..." your bottom lip quivered as you struggled to speak clearly. "...you want to..." It was hard to even finish that sentence; To even think that thought. It was almost as if doing so took your breath away.

Taking a deep breath to calm yourself, you sat up straight and squeezed your eyes shut to prevent any tears from falling. "We can't do this Lukas. It wouldn't be right! It's our duty to marry the ones our fathers have chosen for us and it is foolish to plan otherwise. Although I don't like it one bit, we must respect our parent's wishes and–"

Your eyes shot open at the touch of the Norwegians chapped lips against your own. One hand moving to hold your cheek while the other snaked its way further around your waist. You knew this was his usual way of shutting you up. Just like your first night with him, he had used this same method to calm your nervous stammers and silence your screams of pleasure. Unwillingly, you found yourself succumbing to his kiss. You hated when he did this; it just wasn't fair!

With a loud smacking sound, you managed to push him back and break the kiss. "Stop that Lukas. This is a serious matter! One that cannot be solved. No matter how hard we try..." The truth hurt and saying it out loud did not help.

"I will not let him have you." His voice was low and threatening, but you knew that Lukas's malicious tone was not for you. "I've already claimed you. And this is my proof."

The hand holding your cheek slid down to your stomach and held it firmly. He gently ran his fingers over the recently growing bump and massaged it with soothing circles.

You were caught in his gaze as he lulled you with his sweet voice. You looked down, ashamed that he caught on. You had known you were carrying his child for a while now and, although it was still too early to notice any major changes to your body, you did everything you could to hide it.

"How did you know?" Your hand hovered over his. Giving it a gentle squeeze as you continued. "Is it that obvious already? I thought I was doing so well hiding it."

"You have that glow about you. The one all new mothers carry." Lukas kissed your forehead and then leaned his against it.

A new mother? Just the word "mother" by itself gave you a warm feeling. You knew you weren't ready for such a massive change. The responsibility of caring for another life, and yet, you couldn't stop yourself from smiling. You'd always wanted to experience motherhood but under better circumstances.

Pushing your head up to get a look at your eyes, despite that they were now downcast, Lukas smiled ever so slightly. He enjoyed the sight of you admiring your soon to be large belly. He himself was excited at the thought of being a father."...also, your chest has never been so large." Amongst other things.

You couldn't fight the blush that stained your cheeks. It's true, your breast did grow rather quickly over the last three months, but you didn't think to hide them. You didn't think anyone would look there! Then again, that is a commonplace that most men eyes tend to travel to. Lukas being no exception.

But if Lukas had noticed then others were soon to catch on as well. That would lead to people talking and rumors being spread. All of which was sure to reach your family's ears as well as Matthias', and that could mean trouble. Not only for Lukas but for you and your village as well. A whole war could break out over such a matter.

All this pilling up, it seemed Lukas's proposal was your only option. Yes, you were supposed to marry Matthias, but if you were to disappear then that would mean your younger sister would have to take your place. Matthias might be upset, but your sister has had her heart set on him for the longest time. News of your disappearance would sadden her, but wedding her beloved was sure to bring a smile to her face. Your parents and other siblings would be saddened by your disappearance too, but as soon as they found out about you and Lukas, all hell was bound to break loose. You'd receive a punishment far worse from when he and you were caught simply kissing. That was painful enough as it was, but finding out you're pregnant...the mere thought sent shivers down your spine. You caressed your stomach in fear of what would become of your unborn child.

"I suppose we don't have much of a choice do we?"

"It's our only choice (name). Nothing good will come if we stay. I fear not just for us but for our child as well. Even if they allow you have the babe you may not be able to keep it. Matthias would have it sold as a slave or mistreat it."

You sigh and lay your head on his shoulder and nuzzle into his neck. His warmth was always comforting and it was no different now. It seems your choice is clear but it still doesn't make it any easier. "Where would we go? My father has allies in most of the neighboring lands and no doubt your parents could afford a whole militia to find us."

"Then we'll travel. We'll go to the islands to the south and make a home there." Lukas pulled away from your growing embrace and stood up. He held on tight to your hands and helped you to stand with him, not once breaking eye contact with you. "Even If our families managed to find us they could not lawfully touch us."

"You mean the place where those strange merchants come from? That traveling group of brothers?"

Lukas nodded, "We can start our lives there. I already know the language because of my fathers business and with time, you and our child will be able to speak it too. We can start a farm and live off the land. It'll be hard at first but I know we can do it. So long as we're together. What do you say? Are you with me?"

He held a pleading look in his eyes as his voice carried a tone of confidence. He truly believed you both could make it if you left home, but it would all be for nothing if you weren't on board with the idea. He couldn't start a life without the woman he loved and you couldn't imagine a life without him in the picture.

As the shared gazed continued, you had finally made your mind and smiled at his proposal.

"Alright, together then. England will be our new home. When do we leave?"

"In an hour. There will be no time to pack but I have enough money to last us at least a week if we spend wisely. All we need are the clothes on our backs."

Your eyes grew to saucers and your jaw nearly touched the ground. Had he already planned this out?
