Off in the distance, the sun was nearly ready to take rest in the mountains just as soon as it's trip across the sky was done. It's remaining light causing dark shadows to blanket the forest and hide the two lovers that sought solitude with one another. Both were deeply in love with each other but sadly were destined to never be.
One played an important role in her fathers plan to unite his land with a former enemy while the other was betrothed to a noble's daughter. There was no land to be gained in the wedding. Both families only sought to enlarge their wealth.
Neither of the lovers wished for their fate but there wasn't much they could do to change it. That didn't stop them from trying though. Each begged and implored their parents numerous times to change their minds but they would not give in. They would not allow years of planning to fall to waste because of a love they were sure would not last.
Feeling all but hopeless, the male searched his mind for a way out of this bleak future. It seemed that there was no getting through to either of their parents so a different plan was needed. Only one came to mind and he knew it would not be easy but so long as he had his love at his side it would not matter.
Sitting under a large pine tree, with one arm wrapped around her waist, he pulled her attention by voicing her name. Staring into her (e/c) pools nearly brimming with tears, he smiled and said: "Let's run away."
