Lukas was always a skeptical person. It took him awhile to trust someone. That'd probably be part of the reason he didn't have many friends. He often kept to himself and stayed quiet. He hadn't made a real friend since he left Oslo when he was five years old. Come to think of it, Lukas doesn't really remember their names now that he's been living in America for eleven years now. Lukas smiled to himself when he remembered running around in fields with his fiends. Though that was a different time and Lukas had changed since then. His lips almost never lifted up in a smile anymore, his eyes that once sparkled shining blue were a dull color of the dark night sky.

"Hej Lukas!" Lukas' eyes snapped up at the call of his name. He already knew who was calling for him. Mathias. A few years back Mathias had just moved into the neighborhood that Lukas lived in. Their parents got along well so they saw a lot of each other when Lukas' mother had dragged Lukas with her to Mathias' house. Though Lukas would never admit it, he didn't mind Mathias' company.

"What do you want?" Lukas turned to look at Mathias.

"I just wanted to hang out with you." Mathias smiled. "You are my best friend after all." Mathias casually draped an arm over Lukas' shoulder causing the smaller Norwegian to blush lightly. Lukas had only recently acknowledged that he was in love with Mathias. Lukas was reluctant to confess because he didn't know whether Mathias liked him back. Despite common belief the dane was actually quite hard to read. On the other hand Lukas felt people could read him like an open book. Lukas realized he hadn't said anything in a while and that Mathias might get suspicious and ask what's wrong.

"Whatever." Was Lukas' eventual answer.

"C'mon Luke, lets go to the park." Mathias pulled Lukas behind him as he headed for the park.

"It's Lukas not Luke." Lukas said though he knew the dane wasn't listening. Lukas let himself be pulled by Mathias to the nearby park. Lukas and Mathias had played there many times when they were children. Lukas smiled to himself in response to the memories.

Mathias and Lukas sat on the swings and rocked back and forth lazily. Lukas enjoyed the calm aura around the two of them. Closing his eyes he began to listen to the things that surrounded him. Cars passing by every so often, the children playing in the yards of their houses and Mathias humming a song that he'd sing to Lukas when he was scared. Lukas' lips twitched upwards in a slight smile.

The thunder boomed outside Mathias' bedroom followed by a startled gasp from Lukas. Mathias and Lukas were having a sleep over then it had started to rain, shortly after the thunder had started and the wind roared.

"It's okay Lukas." Mathias whispered holding him in his arms and running his fingers gently through his pale blonde hair. Lukas' arms tightened around Mathias as he buried his head in his shoulder. Suddenly Mathias started humming quietly and calmly. It was a song Lukas didn't recognize but a wave of calm had fallen over Lukas. His tears had dried, his grip around Mathias loosened and he suddenly felt exhausted. Lukas fell asleep against Mathias as he kept humming.

"Lukas?" Lukas snapped out of his haze once again when Mathias called for his attention. "Are you okay?" He asked with concern.

"I'm fine." Lukas replied unconvincingly.

"You don't sound like it." Mathias stated. "Are you sure you're okay?" Mathias' head cocked to the side in curiosity. "You can tell me if you're not." Mathias finished.

"I'm fine." Lukas took a deep breath and looked at Mathias with a slight smile. "I promise." Mathias smiled softly in response to the answer.

"If you say so." Mathias abruptly got up and walked in front of Lukas, grabbed his arms pulling him up gently from the swing then placed a quick peck on his cheek and started walking away. Lukas blushed brightly and stood there frozen.

"What was that for you idiot?!" Lukas ran after Mathias. The aforementioned boy started chuckling and running towards the field connected to the park. "Hey answer me!" Lukas demanded as he followed Mathias blindly.

They had reached the field and at that time Mathias turned facing the annoyed Norwegian chasing after him. As soon as he was in arms reach Mathias grabbed hold of his hands and started twirling him around in one fluid motion. Lukas was now very confused. What was Mathias doing? He thought as Mathias kept twirling him around with one arm around his waist and one holding his hand gently.

"What the hell Mathias?" Lukas asked. Catching his breath with his head lowered and his hands on his knees. Mathias laughed. Lukas straightened up and glared at the Dane. "What's so funny?" Lukas asked. Mathias took Lukas' chin in between his fingers and kissed him on his lips. Lukas' cheeks blushed beet red and his eyebrows raised. Mathias was kissing him. It took his brain awhile to catchup with the events. Lukas found himself kissing back. His eyes fluttered closed and tilted his head to deepen the kiss. He wrapped his arms around Mathias' neck resting against him as Mathias wrapped his arms around Lukas' waist. When they pulled apart Mathias whispered.

"I love you Lukas." Lukas smiled and whispered back.

"I love you too." Mathias smiled and hugged Lukas tightly and nuzzled against Lukas' pale hair. Lukas adjusted his arms to wrap around his shoulders and buried his head in Mathias' chest. They stayed that way until Lukas started to get tired. Mathias picked him up bridal style much to his chagrin.
