Everyone was still testing out the bridge to see if it was strong enough to hold the truck, but honestly, I'm not sure it will. It's a wooden bridge made to handle humans walking across- not cars. In the corner of my eye, i noticed Cassandra turn around, i followed her lead, only to see a small horde of zombies coming out from the trees. "Uh-oh" she said, alerting the others and making them turn around too.
"I got the one on the right." Warren said, pulling out her gun and aiming it at a zombie.
A couple shots rang out and 10k voiced, "Two-thousand, four-hundred fifty-five." Okay then, i thought, my turn to play. I whipped out my katana and took a step forward to a line on four dead ones. "Mari," he spoke up, a sense of worry in his voice. "b-be careful." His cheeks turned a soft pink because of Warren and Doc looking at him in a knowing sort of way.
"Thanks for the sentiment, hon." I sent him a wink before turning back around to the zombies with my katana in full swing and slicing right through two of the zombies heads at an angle, causing them to slip right down and fall to the ground. I did a spin but only for dramatics and to make it look cool when i kill a handful of zombies with no problem. When i come around on the spin, my katana comes at an upward angle and slices the heads clean off the other two zombies.
When i think that i am in the clear for a few seconds, i turned around and wink at 10k. He still has a pinkish hue to his otherwise pale skin. I send him a wink and he opens his mouth to reply but stops short and his eyes widen. Before i could even blink, he raises his gun, aims, and fires directly at me. He misses, of course intentionally and his a zombie behind me. Panic slightly rises in me and realize that now might not be the time for jokes and flirtation. A few more gunshots rang out. Some voices spoke too. "I'm out of ammo." and another, "Me too."
"I'm not." i respond as i just continue to swing my beautiful sword at these deadly creatures. Killing them effortlessly with a swing of a blade into a mushy skull. When i thought i almost killed them all, more kept coming.
"Mari, come on. Let run to the clubhouse!" She ordered for everybody. I instantly stopped and sheathed my weapon. We all took off running and followed Warren's lead straight into a building. Her instantly shutting and locking it.
"Murphy." 10k pointed out, as he is not inside the building with us.
Warren seemed unbothered by that. "He's out there somewhere."
"He safer than us." Doc said, obviously panicked. More growling was heard, other than the ones outside of the building.
"We've got company." Warren said as she killed one.
Doc goes to lift a golf club to kill one but it got caught on a chair. "Hard to swing in here!" He said, annoyed. Which means the katana is not an option because it is significantly longer than the clubs they're using. My eyes land on a little tub of golf balls.
"10K, your sling!" I told him, handing him some balls. He took them and started to kill.
"Too many!" he pointed out and Warren told us to follow her. She led us through a door and instantly shuts it. Her and Doc try to keep it shut as many dead people keep pushing on the door.
Warren pointed out that the door wont hold for much longer. "Well it's better in here than out there!" Doc replied. The growling continued and soon, so did gunshots. Gunshots that weren't fired by us. I pushed myself back against 10k. If there is one thing that i've noticed. It's that humans are scarier than zombies and hold more of a threat. And these humans we don't know. They could be the bad kind. His arms wrapped around me protectively. But then again, it could very well be Murphy coming to save the day. Doubtful, but it could be.
