Chapter 5

"Are you going to open the door?" you asked as the both of you stood on the other side of the clear, double doors.

Sasuke continued his fierce glare at Naruto, his body remaining still as he made no movements for the door. You just looked from Naruto to Sasuke to the woman named Karin. It wasn't until your stomach growled that Sasuke heaved a loud sigh. It was the world telling him that he couldn't just avoid his problems. Reluctantly, he pushed the door open and pulled you in front of him.

He positioned his hand on your lower back as he guided you out the door. The woman rushed over to him, but Sasuke used you as his shield. Every time she tried to slip in a hug, he would move you accordingly to evade her. The cycle happened for a few seconds until Naruto pulled her back from you both.

Sasuke narrowed his eyes when Karin let out a high-pitched moan of disappointment. "Don't blame me," Naruto urged. "I didn't know she was following me until I got here."

"What is she doing in the city?" he grunted out.

"To seee you!" she squealed.

Horrified, you wondered why she was being so pushy. Clearly everyone knew he was settling down with you. Why was she trying acting all touchy-touchy with him?

You usually never felt jealousy when it came to annoying fangirls, but you had never heard of this 'Karin'. You were informed of his many non-serious relationships which included Sakura, but he never mentioned her. And if he didn't mention this chick, was he hiding something?

When she finally made eye contact with you, you took the initiative to introduce yourself. "Hello. We've never met before. I'm [Full Name], Sasuke's fiancée. Nice to meet you." Your tone was stern yet polite, a firm warning to back off.

She fixed her glasses, returning to her normal state. "Ah, yes. I've heard of you." She shook your outstretched hand gingerly as she eyed your close proximity with Sasuke.

"And I haven't heard of you," you hummed. "Why don't you join us for lunch so we can discuss how close you are to my fiancé? I'm extremely curious in regards to your history with him."

The air was tense. Sasuke and Naruto were both quiet, watching over the two of you and minding their own business. You knew it was more out of fear than respect. You were quietly taking out your claws, and Karin was just a wild card.

"We were acquainted in high school," she stated, "and we kept in touch once in a while."

You forced a smile. "How nice. Seeing old time acquaintances out of nowhere is always a treat."

"Uh, yes. I just thought that it would be nice to see him."

"Mhmm," you continued to smile. "Well, how about that lunch?"

She wasn't amused by your silent threat, though she also wasn't eager in continuing to engage with you. "No, I have something to do... I'll swing by later, Sasuke." She bowed slightly before leaving the three of you in the lobby.

"Woooah, you are a formidable opponent to any Sasuke fangirl," Naruto laughed nervously.

Sasuke tightened his hold on your back. "Let's go."

"Yes! My hunger has been making me quite peckish," you exclaimed as you began to march forward.

"Quite peckish?" Naruto mumbled as he followed you. "You were freakin' scary."

You fanned yourself furiously as you supervised your employees who were setting up the tables and chairs for the event. It was a political party for one of the country's ministers, and you had the distinct pleasure of being the event planner for it. However, it wasn't your reputation that attracted such high-ranking clientele.
