it's been three weeks of me and chris hanging out at his house and i'm so happy. happier then i thought i could have ever been.

we have grown more comfortable with eachother and it's like having a best friend as a father like figure. if anyone would become my new father i would want him to be. but i don't know how to ask him to adopt me, i mean that's a lot to ask someone you just met less then a month ago. besides he's very busy with his upcoming movie.

he said he goes back to filming in a week and a half and before he's stuck here for a few months he wants to visit his home back in boston. he said his brother is stay with his parents for this week as well and he sounded very excited so i'm excited.

as chris drove to the airport i couldn't help but feel anxious. "chris?" i say looking up to him from the passenger seat

"rue?" he looks down at me with a smile

"i should probably tell you something?" i mumble under my breath

"spill" he raises his eye brows with a small smile.

"my birthday is in 3 days" i whisper so he can't hear.

"i'm sorry your going to have to speak a little louder if you want me to hear what you are saying" he gives me a playful glare before returning his eyes to the road

"i said, my birthday is in 3 days. i'm going to be 12" i say a little louder and he shoots his head towards me

"your telling me it's almost your birthday and you didn't tell me! what am i supposed to get you? i mean i've got to get you a birthday present-" i cut him off

"chris! the road" i laugh as he turns his head back to the road to watch where he's driving. "and plus, that's why i didn't tell you. i don't want gifts or presents or anything like that. you don't need to spend your money on me. it's a waste" i say in a sadder tone.

"now why would you think it's a waste for me to spend my money on you? what if that's what i want to do with my money?" he keeps his eyes on the road but i still can't help but lean towards the window. i can't look at his eyes right now

"i don't know, that what i've always been told i guess. mary, my old foster parent, told me i wasn't worth a penny" i mumble

"well, darling, looks like you are in for a treat because i've already got thing planned for this trip anyways so i guess it will just have to be one huge birthday surprise with a bunch of tiny surprises to go with it" i can hear his smile through his words and i can't help but smile as well.

he pulls into the airport, we get out of the car and chris carry's all the bags- even though i said i would help, he insisted- and we made our way to the boarding station. we get on the plane and i sit next to the window and he sits next to me.

"do you think your parents are going to like me" i ask in a low voice

"they would be crazy not to kiddo" he says messing up my hair.

"not cool chris, not cool" i say as i push his hand away from my head and try to tame my hair before the plane takes off.
