"Close it." The man in red, white, and blue stated while looking up at the wormhole above the city.
Steve Rogers looked down as the portal was closed, completely missing the point when Tony Stark fell through. He looks up though and smirks.
"Son of a gun." He mutters.
Steve and Thor's smirks disappear as they realize that Iron Man is falling rapidly.
"He's not slowing down." Thor says as he starts swinging Mjolnir.
Suddenly Hulk comes out and catches Tony, sliding down a building while doing so. Thor stays looking at the sky, at the second figure rapidly falling.
"What is that?" He asks pointing up.
Steve looks over and watches as...something falls from the sky. From the wormhole.
Thor swings his hammer a few times before taking off heading towards the figure. As he nears it, Thor realizes that it's a person falling from the sky. He continues up, and wraps his arm around the falling figure noticing that
it—she is unconscious. Thor tightens his grip on the frail body and lands back on the ground. The rest of the Avengers look over as the God gently lays the girl on her back on the ground. Thor turns and notices that Tony is awake, breathing heavily and carrying the same look of confusion as the others.
"Who's that?" Tony asks, nodding to the girl on the ground.
Thor walks closer and takes in her small body. Her skin is pale as a piece of paper, clinging to her bones, while her hair is a dark brown almost black, slick with grease. She wears a dirty white tee-shirt, stained brown with what looks to be dried blood. Her pants are loose and grey, with blood stains on them as well. There are scattered scars along her arms and a few on her legs.
But the girl looks peaceful, as if she were sleeping.
"It's a girl. A kid." Thor looks over at Steve who's helping Tony stand up.
Hulk comes over behind them. Thor kneels down and puts Mjolnir on the ground. He shuffles forward and leans towards the girl reaching out with his hand. He puts two fingers under the base of her jaw, feeling for a pulse.
"She's alive...barely."
The Avengers are startled as the girl's eyes shoot open and she gasps, breathing heavily. She looks up at Thor and gasps again. The girl's eyes flick over each of them warily.
Thor looks down at where his fingers lay against her skin, where a faint yellow glow appears. He watches, transfixed, as the glow grows and spreads through her body, starting from where his fingers rest on her throat.
Thor blinks, suddenly feeling tired, more tired than he previously was. The girl's wide eyes frantically look around, taking in the buildings and the people standing around her. She jerks back as she realizes what she's doing. She scuffles backwards away from the people, lightning flowing up and down her arms.
The girl looks down at her hands, at the lightning and scrambles to make it stop. It flickers, on and off, crackling and then fading beneath her skin. Tony holds his hands out, in a show of peace, and slowly walks forward.
The girl moves further back, but winces as she hits something.
Tony stalks forward, taking in her ragged appearance and taking in the fear in her eyes.
"I'm not going to hurt you, my name's Tony. What's yours?"
The girl jerks her head, looking around for a way to escape from these strange people. She opens her mouth, but hesitates.
