“Hello Doctor Yin. Going to rebirth ah…?” An old woman passed by and saw them. Her wrinkly face immediately smiled, “It’s good to be reborn, it’s good to be reborn…”

Hearing that, Wei Mingyan stood still. “Granny, we are not going for rebirth, but return to life.”

“I know, but isn’t this still smoothly going back to the world of the living…” The old woman replied happily and looked kindly at Yin Zhuo as she continued, “Doctor, you should treat the child well. He has been following you and calling you Dad. After waiting so many years, he finally got his wish granted…”

Yin Zhuo looked at the old woman in front of him in confusion. Suddenly, he recalled an old patient who died in a car accident last year. The dead person whom he had seen before, now appeared in front of him with a smile.

This middle aged doctor’s three views were falling apart. Yet, there was still more to come.

Yin Zhuo followed Wei Mingyan, and they finally arrived at a private ward.

Yin Zhuo’s body was covered with blood, his eyes shut tight. In front of the hospital bed, his wife was holding his hand as she cried miserably.

“Sister-in-law, don’t worry, we’ll arrange surgery for the doctor…” Yin Zhuo’s colleagues were trying to comfort her, but his wife cried even more. She grasped her husband’s hand tightly, feeling like the sky was falling.

Meanwhile, Wei Mingyan, who was standing next to a shell-shocked Yin Zhuo, beckoned calmly as a child timidly approached the two. As he walked over unsteadily, Yin Zhuo noticed how this child, who looked barely a few years old, had a long blood trail on his arm, clearly left behind from an abortion procedure before he was born. Then, Wei Mingyan took the little boy’s hand, picked him up, and handed him to Yin Zhuo, who still looked dazed. “Here, your son.”

Yin Zhuo subconsciously took the child. As he carried the boy in his arms, the boy he held smiled softly, his eyes appearing timid but hopeful, as he whispered, “Dad?”

Yin Zhuo never thought that there would be a child that would call him Dad. He thought that he would never have children in his life. Clearly, this child appeared out of nowhere, but he didn’t really digest everything that was happening until that moment. The middle-aged doctor’s hand shook, and then, with more care and warmth as if he were treating a treasure so fragile it would break with the slightest pressure, he held the child’s hand.

Feeling his warmth, the child smiled pleasantly. For one so young, he has yet to know the manners of propriety, and thus he asked bravely, “Dad, would you like me to be your child?”

Yin Zhuo nodded. Unknowingly, his eyes were a little hot. He showed a careful smile as he said, “Dad would love to have you as his child.”

The little boy’s eyes glittered in joy. He then replied, “Dad, I like you too.”

“Go home quickly, you can’t stay outside for a long time.” Wei Mingyan’s attitude towards this conscious soul was much milder than that towards Yin Zhuo. He patted the child’s head again and watched him reluctantly leave one step at a time. Yin Zhuo subconsciously reached out, wanting for his child to return to his side, and reside in his arms. The warmth from holding him earlier still lingered in Yin Zhuo’s arms.

Soft, gentle, it turns out the feeling of being a father was so good.

“He is special.” Watching the child disappear, Wei Mingyan whispered, “Children usually gain consciousness after birth, but he woke up in the middle of his pregnancy. Generally, after being born, his memory of residing in his mother would disappear, but he died before he was born. When the clamp came in, he wanted to hide away, but the uterus is only so big. There was no place for him to hide, and being so young, so innocent, didn’t understand. The soul body is weak, and will only follow its original body. Then, one day, your wife set incense in prayer for him while his soul was still in the hospital. From then on, he followed your wife and called her mom.
