Chapter 6

You begin to walk home all alone. It's quiet besides the sound of cars honking, and people walking outside. And then, you look over to see Hayato, riding her skateboard.. You start walking over to her.

"Hi, Hayato!" You shout.

"Hey." She waves.

"Where's Daiki? Doesn't he usually walk home with you?" You ask.

"He's grounded. Apparently he wasn't supposed to go to the park the other day." She mumbles. She looks sad.

"What's wrong?" You wonder.

"I asked him to go to the game with me tomorrow. And he can't go anymore. I don't want to have to go alone." She sighs.

"Why don't we go together? It wouldn't be the same as you going with Daiki, but I think it would still be fun!" You offer.

"Okay. Just make sure Manami doesn't find out." Hayato explains.

"Why not?" You ask.

"Oh come on. Do you actually like her?" Hayato says, raising her eyebrows.

"Well... no... but you saw how she is with Hinata. She wants him all for herself. She doesn't even want anyone talking to him alone. I don't think she would be happy if she found out we went to the game together to watch Hinata." You admit.

"But what if she doesn't find out?" Hayato asks.

"Well we can keep it a secret but Hinata will most likely ask her to come. And then she'll get mad at us for not inviting her to sit with us." You exclaim.

"But she doesn't even like me. I don't like her. You don't even like her. She wouldn't want to sit with us." Hayato explains.

"How about this. If Hinata does offer for her to come, then we'll ask her to sit with us." You suggest.

"Fine." Hayato sighs.

And by this time, you arrive home.

"Bye!" You wave.

"See you tomorrow." Hayato says as she picks up her skateboard and walks away.

~Time skip the next day at school~

You walk to school to find Hayato on her phone by the classroom.

"Hi, Hayato!" You wave.

"Hi. Should I bring snacks to the game tonight? Like pocky or doritos or-"

"What game? I wasn't invited to any game." Manami interrupts Hayato.

"Oh really? That suc-"

You nudge Hayato's shoulder.

"Um... d-do... you... want... t-to........" Hayato stutters.

"Do I want to what? Spit it out." Manami demands.

"Sorry Karen- Manami. Do you want to... want to...... go to class now?" Hayato asks.

You nudge on Hayato's shoulder even harder this time.

"No. Do... Do you want to sit with us at the game...?" Hayato gags.

"Sure! Thanks for the kind and thoughtful offer, Hayato!" Manami says with her teeth tightly shut.

"Oh my go- I mean... ya! Any time...!" Hayato twitches.

Hinata walks over to you guys.

"Hi Hinata! I'm so excited to watch your game today!" Manami cheers.

"Oh your coming to the game...? Yay!" Hinata shouts.

"Ya...! We invited her....!" You fake a smile.

"And guys, make sure to bring me potato chips. I don't have them at home, so go to the store and buy me some. And bring me a sprite, too." Manami demands.

"Okay listen, Manami. We already invited you. We're not gonna buy you snacks but you can get them yourself." Hayato yells.

"Hinata she's so mean! Can you get me snacks?" Manami asks.

"Well... maybe you'll be able to stop by the store and get some before the game. I don't think any of us can. But don't worry. The grocery store about five blocks away." Hinata suggests.

"Whatever!" Manami stomps away.

Daiki soon comes over, too.

"Hi, Daiki!" Hinata waves.

"Hi." Daiki says as he sips his water.

"Are you going to the game tonight?" Hinata asks.

"No." Daiki sighs.

"Why?" Hinata wonders.

"I'm grounded." Daiki explains.

"For how long?" Hinata continues to ask questions.

"Three days." Daiki says, with a bored look on his face.

"We should go to class." Hinata recommends.

"Okay." Daiki agrees.
