You and Toby stayed up on the catwalk until the concert ended and people would have started looking for you if you didn't come down from the rafters. Of course, you were loathe to leave (you would have lived in those moments forever if you could have) but the little parting smile Toby gave you made you grin as well as you went your separate ways at the bottom of the stairs.

Your parents were easy to find - your mother was gushing about how good you had been and how much she had liked the show. Your father just ruffled your hair and told you that you'd done a good job - high praise from a man who you knew had probably been asleep for every act except yours. Still, you took their praise with a smile, and listened to your mothers chatter as you walked back to the car.

There was a little pep in your step as you walked out of the school building and into the parking lot. You felt like you were about to just float away, up into the starry sky and never be heard from again - the giddiness built up in your chest until you were feeling lighter that you had ever before. You couldn't really blame yourself though, you had just had maybe the best experience in your life. Who wouldn't want to be snuck up into the rafters above the stage and kissed breathless?

The car ride home was uneventful, and as soon as you were inside the house again you were disappearing up to your room, shutting the door being you. You flopped down on the bed, letting out and airy laugh into the empty room. It was a little stupid, you had to admit, but you couldn't stop yourself from smiling at the empty ceiling, just sitting in the quiet by yourself.

He'd kissed you.

And then you'd kissed him. And then you were kissing over and over and the music from the stage had slipped into the background.

You dragged a finger over your lips, tracing the outline. You were smiling so much that your cheeks were starting to hurt, but you couldn't stop for the life of you. It was definitely an occasion to be smiled about though - it had been something straight out of a teen romance, and you knew you would remember it forever.

You also knew that you really needed to tell somebody about it right now.

Digging into your pocket, you pulled out your phone, opening it and scrolling through your contacts until you found Maya. You pressed call, put it on speaker and dropped your phone on your pillow next to you, listening to it ring before Maya picked up.

"Hello?"

"Maya." You said, still grinning. "I have news."

"Oh!" Maya gasped. "Wait, wait - Kieran's here too, is that okay? Should I grab my headphones?" You could hear her rummaging around on the other end of the line, no doubt rifling through her pockets for her headphones.

"It's nothing bad, no worries." You said, honestly not caring if Kieran overhead. It wasn't like he was going to tell anyone. "Hello Kieran."

His voice was slightly quieter than Maya's when he responded. "Hello."

Maya stopped rummaging. "So what's the news? Something happen at the show after we left? Was it funny? Did you get it on camera?"

"No, no." You said. "It's kind of something personal."

"Oooh." Maya said. You could hear the smile in her voice. "Don't tell me something happened with Toby."

Butterflies swirled in your stomach at the simple mention of his name. In the background of the call, you could hear Kieran, "Toby was that short kid?"

"Yeah, something happened with Toby." You said.

Maya gasped. "Wait, actually? Spill!"

You let out another bit of giddy laughter, rolling over so that you were laying on your side as you spoke into the call. "Well, after you left we were just watching the show for a bit, but then he was like 'lets go watch the rest of the show from the catwalk'."

Maya squealed, and you could hear Kieran laughing behind her. "Did you finally hold his hand?"

"He kissed me." You said, blurting the words out into the room. They hovered in the air above you for a moment before they fell back down to the bed. It felt awfully real all of a sudden, and another wave of butterflies ripped through you.

It took a moment for Maya to respond but when she did, it was a loud screech. "He didn't!"

You could hear Kieran burst out laughing in the background and you couldn't help but giggle as well, partly because of the noise Maya had made and partly because you still felt as light as a cloud, liable to drift away at any moment. He'd kissed you, and you'd told someone, and it was real.

"We stayed up there until the show ended." You said.

Maya screeched again. "Oh my god!" She said. "You guys were up there until the show ended? Jesus- that's a full on make out session. Was it good? Was he a good kisser?"

"Of course it was good, I can't stop smiling." You said.

"Well now neither can I!" Maya said. "Ahh! I'm so proud of you, mate! You did it!"

You laughed. "Yeah, sort of." You said, grabbing the phone and rolling back onto your back. "I'll let you get back to your boy now, I just really needed to tell somebody."

"I'm bringing you a cupcake or something tomorrow for lunch." Maya said. "You deserve it after that."

You laughed. "Bye Maya. Bye Kieran."

You could hear Kieran say goodbye in the background, and then Maya more clearly, "Bye! You're amazing I love you!"

"You never say that to me-"

Maya hung up the call before you could hear the rest of Kieran's sentence, but you laughed anyway. You dropped your phone back on your pillow and let out a long breath into the air, feeling a smile stretch its way back onto your mouth. You rolled over, burying your face into your pillow as you sighed again.

What a night, what a night.
