Spencer yawned as he walked into the great hall, clutching his sketchbook to his chest. He started walking between the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff tables, stopping in his tracks as he heard his name. "What?" He whined, turning around to see where it came from. Cedric came running up to him with that bright contagious smile and Spencer couldn't help but smile back. "Hey!" As he got to Spencer he frowned, giving him a small nudge. "You okay?" Spencer chuckled and the both of them started to slowly walk alongside the tables again. "I'm fine, Ced. Just tired. I didn't sleep well last night." Cedric pushed his hands into his pockets, frowning. "I'm sorry. You can always skip class and go take a nap." Spencer chuckled and shrugged. "I could do that, but how would I hang with you then?" Cedric turned pink and rolled his eyes, smacking him softly on the arm. "Sleep's more important! I gotta go. You coming to tryouts after classes? Hufflepuff and Gryffindor are today." Spencer nodded and smiled, both boys coming to a stop as they reached the area of the Gryffindor table where all of Spencer's friends sat. "Of course I am. Oliver would hunt me down if I wasn't" Both boys chuckled and Cedric held his arms out for a hug, Spencer leaning into him. "I'll see you later." "Bye Ced." They smiled at each other and Cedric turned, quickly running off to his friends at the Hufflepuff table as Spencer sat down. "You two seem close," Harry spoke up and Spencer chuckled, pushing his plate out of the way and setting his sketchbook down in its place. "We are. Ced's great." Dean chuckled and finished the bite of food he had in his mouth before speaking. "You've known him for two days!" Spencer shrugged, opening his sketchbook and pulling his pen from its place resting behind his ear. "Three actually! But your point is? We have practically every class together. And he's really nice. We've gotten close, what can I say?" Dean shrugged in agreement "Okay I guess you've got a point. It's just that Diggory's quite popular and he usually isn't seen around the same friend as much as he's seen around you. He seems to have taken quite a liking to you" Spencer opened his sketchbook with a small chuckle. "Maybe he likes me Dean" Spencer teased, obviously joking as sarcasm dripped from his tongue. "He might." Spencer rolled his eyes and smacked Dean lightly on the arm. "I was joking you twat. Does he even like guys?" Dean just shrugged, turning back to his conversation with Ginny and Seamus.
"Mornin'" George elbowed his shoulder and Spencer flashed him a smile. "Hey, Georgie." Spencer yawned, flipping to his current page in his sketchbook and working on the new sketch he had started of a flower. "Wow that's really good, I love tiger lilies" George said as he grabbed his drink. "Thanks. I do too, they remind me of my mum." Spencer mumbled, his voice barely audible from how tired he was. George leaned in to get a closer look at the drawing, not realizing how far towards Spencer he leaned until the boy stopped and looked at him. "Are you blind?" He teased and George looked at him. "Partially" George teased back, earning a laugh from Spencer as he turned back to his drawing. "Is that what you were drawing yesterday that Cedric was so obsessed with?" Spencer shook his head, focusing on his drawing. "No, I was drawing a dragon. Now shoosh, I need to focus." George nodded and continued to eat breakfast. As he talked to Fred and their friend Lee Jordan, every now and then he'd glance at Spencer's drawing and smile, taking a mental note of Spencer's love for tiger lilies.
Breakfast was over after not too much longer and students filed out of the great hall, grabbing their things from their dorms before going to their first classes of the day. Spencer pushed open the door to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom with yet another yawn, walking in and going over to where he and Cedric usually sat. Cedric was nowhere to be seen, but Spencer was one of the first to arrive today. Only 3 other students there out of the 22 who were attending the class. Spencer set his sketchbook down on the table, not even bothering to get a book from the shelves as he laid his head down on the table. Remus appeared in front of the desk, giving the boy's head a small tap with his pen. "Spence. You okay?" Spencer let out a small hum in response, already half asleep. "Rough night again?" Spencer nodded and Remus sighed, stroking the boy's hair a few times. "I suppose I could let you sleep. But just this once okay?" Spencer smiled softly and nodded, keeping his head down and eyes closed. "Thanks, Dad." Remus hummed in response and went back to the front of the classroom. As he walked away, Cedric walked in, one of the last to enter the classroom. He sat next to Spencer and chuckled softly as he noticed the boy's head laying on his arms on the desk. "Spencer, you awake?" Spencer let out a small groan in response, earning another chuckle from Cedric. "I told you to skip and take a nap. Your dad teaches this class I don't think he'll care." "He doesn't care. I am napping, now shush." Spencer muttered, starting to slowly fall asleep. "Don't you think your bed would be comfier?" Spencer shrugged and a few seconds later, Cedric gave him a nudge, causing him to open his eyes. "Here." Cedric held out his yellow and black Hufflepuff sweater. Due to the cold weather students were allowed to wear their house sweaters over their uniform shirt and Cedric was wearing his but had taken it off, now only wearing his shirt underneath his robes. Spencer smiled and took the bright yellow sweater from him, laying it on the desk and using it as a pillow. "Goodnight." Cedric teased and Spencer lightly kicked the side of the boy's leg, both of them letting out a laugh as Spencer closed his eyes again.
