The sun shined through the tall windows in Spencer's room, the glass glistening and shining as birds chirped outside. Spencer's alarm began to blare, pulling him out of his dream world. He let out a groan of annoyance and his eyes slowly fluttered open, only to squeeze shut again at the sun hitting his eyes. "Merlin.." He complained, rolling over and away from the sun. He stood with a yawn and stretched out his whole body. His alarm continued to blare and he let out another loud groan, slamming his hand down on it. "Shut up." He complained and slowly shuffled over to his dresser to get his clothes. He pulled on his terribly uncomfortable black uniform pants, and then his shirt. It was supposed to be dreadfully cold today so he tucked in his shirt and pulled on his maroon and gold Gryffindor sweater over the white button-up uniform shirt. He put on his red and yellow tie, letting it carelessly hang down over his sweater as he grabbed his robes and pulled them on. He ran his hands through his hair, flinging it around until it looked at least somewhat presentable. Slipping on his shoes as he grabbed his wand off the table, he let out another groan. "Bloody uniforms.." He complained under his breath at the ugliness of his shoes. He tucked his wand away in his pocket, grabbed his sketchbook, and headed for the great hall for breakfast.

As he reached the great hall he noticed two signs posted next to the huge double doors, one yellow and one red. A few students were gathered around the signs and he remembered quidditch tryouts yesterday. "Oh shit!" He mumbled to himself as he ran up to the sign. "Move!" He exclaimed, pushing past the group of students that were reading over the Gryffindor team list. He started to skim down the list, reading it as fast as possible.

'Gryffindor Quidditch Team

Oliver Wood: Captain, substitute keeper
Cormac McLaggen: Keeper
Fred Weasley: Beater, substitute chaser
George Weasley: Beater
Angelina Johnson: Chaser
Spencer Black: Seeker, substitute chaser'

As he saw his name, he didn't even bother to read the rest of the list, letting out a gasp. "I made it!!" He started to grin but suddenly stopped. "Wait but that means.." He skimmed over the rest of the list, stopping as he got to Harry's name way towards the bottom.

Harry Potter: Substitute seeker.

He let out a small laugh of pure disbelief, his green eyes going wide as his mouth fell open. "Oh my god...I beat him.." He started to grin, letting out a small happy giggle. The students around him starting to mumble about how he beat the famous Harry Potter in quidditch tryouts but Spencer just ignored them, trying not to dance around as he walked into the great hall.

As he was walking towards where his friends were sitting, he saw Cedric standing by them, waiting for Spencer. He noticed Cedric and began to grin, starting to run towards him. "Ced!!" Cedric looked upset at what someone at the table was saying but he looked up at the sound of his name, smiling as he saw Spencer. He let out a chuckle as he noticed him running towards him and opened his arms. Spencer practically threw his sketchbook onto the table as he crashed into Cedric, who smiled brightly. "Well hello, love." Cedric chuckled as he caught him. Spencer barely noticed the nickname as he wrapped his arms around Cedric, hugging him tightly. "I made the team!!" Cedric wrapped his arms around Spencer's torso, lifting him slightly off of his feet as he laughed happily. "I know you did! Congratulations, I'm so proud of you. I told you you'd make it!" Spencer laughed happily and they both lingered in the hug for a moment or two before pulling away, smiling at each other. "I can't believe I made it.." Cedric was grinning from ear to ear and nodded, giving him a small nudge. "I told you you'd make it! And Cedric Diggory is never wrong." He smiled, earning a laugh from Spencer. "Well, I hope I do well.." Spencer's smile started to fade slightly as his nerves started to get to him. "You'll do fine! We've got a few weeks of practice before games even start. You're gonna kill it out there, I know it." Cedric smiled. "Who knows, maybe even better than me." Spencer chuckled and shook his head. "Oh, there's no way. You're a better Seeker than I am" Cedric shook his head, glancing behind him to make sure no teachers had noticed him at the wrong table. "I am not! Did you even see yourself out there yesterday?!" Spencer smiled and hugged Cedric again, wrapping his arms around the boy's neck. Cedric stood at 6 foot 1 and was ever so slightly taller than Spencer. He let out another happy giggle as he hugged Cedric, practically bursting with excitement. "I can't believe I made it!" Cedric chuckled and hugged the boy back. "I'm proud of you, Spence." They separated from their second hug and looked at each other, both of them still smiling softly as they caught each other's gaze. They both lingered for a moment, staring at each other as two bright smiles stayed plastered on their faces. Cedric's grey eyes lit up and he tried not to smile harder as his cheeks washed pink. Spencer himself turned pink too, clearing his throat. "Well-" Cedric nodded softly, pushing his hands into his pockets as things got a little awkward. Spencer's freidsn had all been staring for quite some time now, watching the moment play out.
