The next day Spencer was surprised when he, Fred, and George walked into Defense Against the Dark Arts and Cedric was no where to be seen. "Looks like somebody can't take the heartbreak." George said cockily as he gave Fred a nudge. "Aw, the poor thing." Fred said sarcastically before the three of them shared a laugh. "You guys are so mean, you know that?" Spencer said with a chuckle as they sat at their tables. "Oi. I have every right to be mean to him. He kissed my boyfriend." George said as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Good morning students!" Professor Lupin called as he walked in the door. "Good Morning Professor Lupin." They all called back, except Spencer of course who gave a happy. "Hi Dad!" Remus flashed his son a smile as he walked over to the chalkboard. "Today, we will be learning about the Cruciatus curse." And so he started the lesson.

Spencer was barely listening as Remus rambled on about the curse, his chin resting on the palm of his left hand as he sketched away in his book with his right. He was working on the drawing of George, just now starting on the very bottom of his face. He smiled down at the drawing softly, half-listening as Fred and George whispered back and forth about a prank they were planning to pull on Filch. There was a knock at the door before it came open, all heads turning as Remus paused his lesson. Spencer felt his stomach jump as he saw Cedric standing there, a blank look on his face. "You've got to be kidding me.." He mumbled softly. He quickly turned back around in his seat, burying his nose in his sketchbook as he continued to draw. "Ah! Mr. Diggory, finally decide to join us? What is your reasoning behind your late arrival?" Remus asked as he turned around, crossing his arms. "Sorry, Professor.." Cedric mumbled, quickly making his way to his seat. "I.. overslept.." He muttered softly. He pulled his little side-bag over his head and put it on the table, sitting down. Spencer continued to draw, praying Cedric didn't say anything. "Detention, Mr. Diggory. Today and tomorrow" Cedric's eyes got a little wide and he looked up at Remus. "But Sir, it's quidditch!" Remus shrugged. "I don't care if there's quidditch tomorrow. Hufflepuff has a substitute seeker." Cedric let out a groan. "Professor, please!" He begged and Remus held up a hand. "Enough, Diggory. You can either attend detention tomorrow or attend it twice as long today." And with that, Remus turned around and started teaching again.

Spencer couldn't help but let out the tiniest little snicker, turning his head the other way as he clamped a hand over his mouth so Cedric didn't hear it. Fred and George, of course, got a kick out of the whole situation and didn't try to hold back their laughter, giving each other a high five. "Would you shut it?" Cedric whispered as he turned his head towards the twins. George's laughter instantly faded and his nose curled up in disgust. "Don't speak to me." George spoke up, crossing his arms over his chest. Cedric let out a small huff and turned back around, just blankly staring down at his textbook. Spencer continued to draw as the class went on, his lips curled inward as he concentrated. Cedric looked over at Spencer and let out a chuckle, having noticed long ago that Spencer chewed on his lips when he concentrated.

He got lost for a moment, unable to pull his eyes away as he began to stare at Spencer. George was talking away with Fred, neither of them noticing as Cedric's eyes lingered upon Spencer's facial features. After a while, Spencer felt eyes on him and looked up. He looked over at Cedric and froze as he noticed him staring, swallowing softly when Cedric didn't pull his gaze away. "What.." Spencer whispered with more anger than he intended. Cedric was quiet for a moment before he shook his head softly. "I'm sorry.." As they held eye contact, Spencer noticed just how horrible Cedric looked. He had bags under his eyes, which were red and puffy as if he'd been crying. His nose had a cut going across it and was still a slight shade of purple, a bandage across the broken bridge of it. He had a cut on his cheek and two under his eye. He took a soft breath and as he stared into Spencer's eyes his normally bright and shiny grey eyes went dull, hurt and regret behind them. "It's too late for sorry, Ced.." Spencer mumbled as he looked back down at his drawing.
