CARTER
“So you sing, right?” I said randomly. Why am I nervous? No girl has ever made me nervous before. Stay cool Carter… stay cool.
She smiled at me before returning her eyes to the hands that were anxiously picking at the hem of her sweater.
“Uh yeah, I’m on varsity choir. It’s a bit intense, but I guess I like it.” suddenly her head sprang up and she turned back towards me, "YOU SHOULD JOIN! I mean on the way to Dairy Queen you sang a pretty mean version of Uptown Funk. Oh by the way Bruno Mars called, he wants his hat back!”
She busted out in laughter lifting the brown hat off of my head and placing it on her own bright blonde hair whilst twirling around like a little girl as she ran further into the woods.
In any other situation this behavior would have possibly turned me off but there's just something about her, I just can't get enough of.
“Hey, hey, hey.” I spoke up. Trying to repress the growing smile on my face.
“Anymore hay and we’ll have to get a horse."
She displayed a large mischievous grin and I could tell she was enjoying being rebellious on her day of ditching.
I couldn't help but just stand admiring her happiness and bright nature. With the sun reflecting off of her glowing blonde hair and her gorgeous blue eyes sparkling in the light.
“What is it?" She snapped me out of my trance, looking at me obviously a tad amused. "You’re looking at me weird. Well,at least weirder than usual,” she chuckled.
“It’s just…" you’re intriguing and different and beautiful and bright. But I couldn't say that. So I settled with a simple "nothing. Nevermind.”
Her inquisitive nature was not one to let me go easily with that answer as she nagged for the truth. But before she could receive an answer from me, she stumbled over a branch and fell to the ground bringing me with her.
We both went silent as I hovered barely an inch above her, our faces nearly touching.
I could see a small twig sticking out of the top of her hair that I felt the need to help her with.
“You have a… here let me get it” I smiled grabbing it for her and throwing it out onto the forest floor before swiftly pushing the loose hair out of her pale face. My eyes quickly transitioned from her own blue ones to her plump pink lips and back again.
I just had this overwhelming urge to kiss her even though we only just met.
A nervous smile made its way to her face as her cheeks grew red with embarrassment
.
“Uh... I uh..." she struggled with her words as she did the same eye transition from my mouth back to my own eyes. “Thank you was what I meant to say.... Or at least tried to, oh gosh.”
I couldn't help but let out a small laugh at her adorable reaction keeping my eyes locked on hers "You’re something else, did you know that?”
“Well I have been told that I'm odd and once someone told me I was adopted but I don't think you're implying it that way so I'm gonna guess that was a compliment..." she rambled, obviously very flustered with the situation at hand.
“Something like that yeah." I smiled. "What I mean is that yes, yes it was a compliment."
Taking another moment to just look at her I decided that it might be a good time to get back up. "Here let’s get you a little cleaned up.” I smiled, standing up off of her small body and outstretching an arm which she quickly accepted.
We began to walk in silence after that our hands slightly brushing against one another's before suddenly her eyes seemed to almost glaze over and she took off sprinting in the opposite direction.
“KATIA! KATIA?!” I screamed after her, completely confused on the motivation of her actions.
This girl was honestly driving me crazy, in both a good and bad way.
First, Miss K Hudson decided that she was going to be all badass which, I’m not going to lie, turned me on.
And now she's running like she's being chased by the Russian mafia or something.
“KATIA! Come back, this isn’t funny!”
I swear to God, no sane person leaves a perfectly wonderful conversation with me of all people, to go sight-seeing or whatever the hell she is doing in the woods.
If this was just anyone I would walk back to the school and forget about it.
But she wasn't just anyone. Katia was different and I brought her out here so I'm not going back without her.
Plus she still has my hat.
