I led them to the back of an alley. I whistled a few notes, and a ladder dropped down from a window.
"Quinn, that's you?" A small voice called.
"It's me dear! Don't pull the ladder after me, I brought a surprise!" I shouted back, and started to climb. "One at a time on the ladder guys, it's only meant to hold one person." I told the fidgeting men. They were obviously uncomfortable with what we were doing. "Before you ask, no, this isn't illegal." I clarified. "Everything is legal in LA." I said, rolling my eyes.
I reached the top and climbed in the window, hauling my giant backpack with me. "Ok, next!" I yelled down, and Jungkook started to climb.
Once they were all up, I pulled up the ladder and stowed it under a bed. The men were looking around and barely containing their flattery. The walls were covered in posters and pictures of them, and BT21 plushies littered the beds. there was even a Mang rug on the floor.
"They're gonna love you guys." I chuckled. "Suzie dear, go tell everyone Quinn brought a special surprise, ok? Get everyone to the dance room!" I told the child hugging my waist, which was all se could reach. She gave me one last squeeze and ran off, her bare feet pattering on the wooden floor.
I led BTS to the "dance room", a big room clear of any furnature with a boom box against the wall. I slid in a CD, and 'Mic Drop' started playing. I couldn't stop smiling, my kiddos were going to love this!
Small humans started to pile into the room, bringing blankets and pillows to sit on.
"In a circle everybody! I brought guests!" I hollered, and the kids scrambled to form a circle. "Ok, I counted heads, and everyone is here, except Joey. Is he sleeping again?" I sighed.
"Not anymore..." a grumpy voice responded. A skinny boy with rumpled clothes and glasses trudged in and took a seat.
"I feel you Joey," said Yoongi. "I'd rather be sleeping too." He yelped when Jin and I slapped his head at the same time. "Oww..." he whined.
"Hey, do you mind if I show them our tattoos? These kids can keep secrets." I whispered to Kookie.
"Really? They're so young..." he mumbled.
"They grew up in bad places, they know when not to snitch." I replied sadly. He nodded and I smiled slightly. "Ok, roll up your sleeve!"
The audience gasped, and started clapping.
"Ok guys, you can take off your masks." I told them.
The kids' clapping faltered, and they stared at the idols with wide eyes. Martie, the kids' teacher, was first to speak.
"You're soulmates with Jeon Jungkook?!" She squealed. "OMG, I can't believe it! I knew you were destined for greatness!" She started fanning her face and rambling about her psychic powers.
Everyone else started to talk too.
"When did you meet?"
"Was it romantic?"
"I hope it was romantic."
"Was it at the fanmeet?"
"Of course it was at the fanmeet, where else?"
"I don't know, I was just asking!"
Junkook was smiling and glancing around, taking it all in. All of a sudden, he stopped, and stared directly at Martie.
"Quinn, her tattoo..." he trailed off and grabbed Yoongi's arm. He pointed to her, and Yoongi's eyes nearly popped out of his head.
Martie's tattoo was on her forehead, an orchid. I watched Yoongi reach and brush his bangs aside, and rub his brow. He took out a small packet of makeup wipes, and rubbed it on his skin, revealing an identical flower.
My eyes widened, and he smiled weakly before walking over to her. She was so busy fangirling over her precious Jin-Oppa, she didn't notice Yoongi's approach. He tapped her on the shoulder, and sat down, moving his bangs to the side, showing her his tattoo. She looked at it, then back at me, then back at Yoongi.
Uh oh.
She tentatively reached out and touched it, tracing it gently...and burst into tears. Yoongi panicked, and looked at me with pleading eyes. I ran over and led them out of the room, and sat down, pulling Martie close.
"He's not like your parents, baby. It's okay, he won't hurt you. Hey, it's okay. You're safe, I'll be there too, I can protect you." When she didn't calm down, I took Yoongi's hand and put it on his forehead. He seemed to understand, and started to rub it gently.
After a while, she stopped crying.
"Do you want to tell him yourself sweetie?" She shook her head and burrowed deeper into my blouse. I stroked her hair and took her hand, nodding.
"You tell him." She sniffed, the words muffled by the fabric.
I started to explain. "Martie's parents were abusive. Her father was a man-whore, and her mother was a raging alcoholic. Even though they were soulmates, they hated each other's guts. When she was fifteen, her mother murdered her father, and she was brought here. She knows most soulmates are happy couples, but trauma doesn't fade easily."
Yoongi shook his head slowly. "Thats messed up." Martie's shoulders started shaking again, but this time she was silent. He hesitated, but reached out and took her hand."If you don't want a soulmate, I understand...but you should know I would never hurt you. My parents used to beat me too, and I'd never put anyone through that. Actually they were pretty unhappy together for a while, but...they got it fixed, so I guess there's hope? I'll wait as long as you want." he said softly.
Martie cracked a smile and wiped her eyes. "I guess I should get to know you before rejecting you..." she mumbled.
I'd never seen Yoongi so happy.
