Help yourself

"Help yourself"; a phrase said so often
During dinner time
As rejection in exclamation.

But if you'd take it literally,
Word for word,
How it's written,
You'd see what it can also mean.

A call for you to get better.
A call for you to be better.
A call to be the better version of yourself.

Why would you say it as a rejection?
Why would you say it as offence?
If it held such beautiful meaning,
why drag it down from grace?

"Helping yourself" is something everyone should do.
Something to spread awareness of,
Not something to drag down.

It's said that if you help yourself,
Greatness is on its way.
So help yourself,
Even if only at the dinner table...
