Chapter 4- Cryptic Conversations and a Definite Dedication

"...me. Hey, Hajime." Chiaki nudged him, her eyes on her game. Hajime was no better, focused intently on his phone.

"Ah- sorry, Chiaki."

"I don't mind. But you must be really excited to have Komaeda's number, huh." She smiles, looking up slightly

"Bwuh- no! Well, yeah, but, just cus I had decided I would! I'm not that excited." Hajime couldn't help the whine in his voice, making himself cringe.

"Huh. I guess that could be true," Chiaki hums, turning back to her game. "So you haven't figured it out yet...I think."

"You said that earlier- what do you even mean?" Hajime looked up, thinking. "If you mean me being bi...then yeah, I figured it out." Hajime recoils, remembering his brief interaction with Fuyuhiko earlier.

"Hm...well, that's a step." She said it so nonchalantly, Hajime couldn't help but be surprised.

"Did- wait. Did everybody really know? I assumed that was an exaggeration..."

"It's not." Chiaki's phone beeped, distracting her. She smiled softly at the screen, and Hajime grinned.

"Sonia, huh? You guys together yet?"

"Mm." Was as much of an answer as Hajime was going to get, so he took it as an affirmative sound.

"I'm glad." Chiaki smiles at him, before reabsorbing herself into her phone. Hajime does the same, Komaeda's contact pulled up on the bright screen. He stares at it contentedly, kind of contemplating sending a text. He decides to do so, typing out a short 'hey'.

Komaeda's reply is near instant, his perfectly punctuated 'Hello, Hinata-kun!' bringing a full-on smile to Hajime's face.

Hajime happened to not notice Chiaki look up and smile at him, before turning back to her own phone.

'whats up' Hajime cringed after sending it, knowing that was probably the lamest thing to follow up with.

'Well, Hinata-kun is texting me, so I'm giving that my full attention!' Something about that made Hajime laugh- he imagined Komaeda dropping a book or a glass of water and rushing to reply to him. The ivory-haired boy probably would do that, making it all the more funny to him.

'u must rly wanna text me then huh'

'But of course! Any interaction with Hinata-kun is one that I'll treasure- for you to waste your time to converse with trash like me is really kind of you, Hinata-kun!"

Hajime did not like that. The idea of Komaeda obsessing over him he... strangely didn't have a problem with(probably something that Narrator-kun'll use in a future chapter!), but the self-deprecating had to stop.

'dont say that komaeda' 'i like talking with you' Hajime cringed again- so much for being able to convince Komaeda to stop. That was probably the weakest way to do that. God, he really had to stop making himself cringe...

'You're all too kind to me, Hinata-kun' Well...that wasn't acknowledgement, but it wasn't bad either. Hajime decided to accept it for now, but he was far from done convincing Komaeda.
