miss klein ran her fingers through her hair as she roamed through the papers.
she heard her front door open and she looked up suspiciously.
she heard footsteps and let out a sigh when she saw who it was.
"oh, i'm sorry, i had no idea you'd be here at this time."
"no worries," miss klein nodded. she smiled when her dog ran over to her side.
"hi buddy, how are you?" she cooed.
"we had about fifteen walks today, he's a good one."
"thanks, how much do i owe you?"
"nothing, it's fine."
"are you sure? i think i have some cash on me."
"no, no, free of charge, it's okay, but there is another way you can pay me though."
miss klein's eyebrows furrowed but she soon knew what she was talking about.
"mya, no."
"come on, we've done it before."
"i know but I have work t-" miss Klein was cut off by mya kissing her roughly.
miss klein pushed her away and shook her head.
"i really can't tonight, sorry."
"oh- okay, i understand. i'll leave, thanks though."
miss klein let out a sigh and rolled her eyes as mya walked out of the door.
her phone pinged and she glanced at it, looking away from it, but looking at it again when it pinged once more.
billie.
-
billie had her head face down on the desk as she snoozed away in the middle of class.
the bell rang waking her up instantly and she let out a groan at the noise.
"alright, you guys can get out. billie, stay back." miss klein said.
billie sat back down waiting for everyone else to leave.
"what did i do now?" billie asked.
"for starters. you slept through my entire class."
"it won't happen again, my bad, i just didn't sleep last night."
"i know, you texted me at three in the morning."
"well you said i could, i don't see any problem with that."
"so we stayed up all night conversation, but you promised you'd go to sleep."
"i couldn't fall asleep, believe me, i tried to."
"well it's your lunch period, so if you want to sleep, by all means."
"nope, i'm fine now, i have question though."
miss klein nodded and sat down in front of the younger girl.
"how many tattoos do you have?"
"think i lost count, but i have a lot."
"which one's your favorite or means the most to you?"
"uh- it's this one, it says josie."
all that did was make billie think of the dream again.
she was surprised that she even remembered the dream considering she always forgot her dreams.
billie suddenly let out a wince, her hand immediately going to her wrist that was already covered by the sleeve of her hoodie.
miss klein furrowed her brows at her movement and asked her what was wrong.
"it's nothing, just a cramp." billie mumbled, looking down at her wrist.
the older woman just nodded but was concerned when she noticed billie's hand constantly going to her wrist, whether it was holding it or scratching it harshly.
"are- are you sure it's just a cramp?" miss klein asked her.
"hm? oh yeah, not a big deal." billie struggled to speak.
"lift up your sleeve."
"no, i'm okay, don't worry about it, i'm- i'm just gonna leave now."
billie stood up and made her way out of the classroom in a hurry.
-
"billie, yo, we're right here." vixen snapped his fingers.
"yeah, what?" billie averted her eyes quickly.
"today's someone's birthday!" vixen shouted catching the attention of everyone in the auditorium.
"shit, shut the fuck up asshole." billie hid her face in her hoodie.
"hi, can everyone give a nice happy birthday to our dear friend billie?" zoe stood up from her seat.
when no one said anything, drew rolled her eyes and also stood up,
"say happy birthday and i'll kiss you." on cue, a storm of 'happy birthday billie's' filled the room.
"mm, you're gonna be kissing a lot of people." vixen murmured. "as if." drew scoffed.
"i hate you guys." billie sent the three a mean glare. "but seriously, you're eighteen, how does it feel?"
"i don't know? eighteen, i guess?"
"of course you would be the one to give that nonchalant answer."
"am i supposed to feel like a fairy or some shit? it's not like i'm doing any thing for it."
"and that's where you're wrong, we're throwing you a birthday party right after."
"really? i'm not going."
"you are, it's okay if you don't know what to wear, i'm coming over."
"no you're not, i don't want a birthday party."
before drew could respond, there was another voice; miss klein's.
"hi, you mind if i steal her for a moment?"
"uh, sure?" drew shrugged. billie followed miss klein out of the auditorium and stopped her.
"why am i out here again?" billie asked her again.
"y'know how you were in a hurry to get out of my room, yeah well you dropped something."
"is it my phone 'cause i can't remember where i p-"
"no, it's a razor blade?" miss klein showed billie the rusty material.
billie's light grin dropped when she saw the blade, miss klein glanced back at billie's hoodie sleeve.
"billie, lift up your sleeve."
