The burning embers of the soul

Seem to be losing their spark

Duller and duller they become

As you walk alone

On the frozen path of life

You started out so bright

Alive with the fire inside

Always someone to tend to the flames

As you burnt

You lost all touch

With those who could rekindle your flame

I guess it really is a shame

That your light weakens

And your warmth keeps no one warm

“You’ve gone cold”

They whisper in your ear

But not too close

For they all fear

Catching the cold

That they’ve been running from all along
