I was hanging on a cliff

And when I realized

That no one was awake

To catch my fall

I gathered as much strength

To pull myself up

I lay on the floor of the peak

My skin on top of rocks and pebbles

I breathe heavily

My body’s heating up

I’m crying sweat

I made it

I made it

I told myself

I’m strong

I did it

The next morning

When people saw me at the peak

They told me they admired me

Because I was so strong

Because I was always at the peak

I smile and laugh

It may be true

That every morning

I’m strong

It could be that the sunlight

Gave me strength

They were the ray of hope

But they don’t know

That every night

Where this is no light

And everyone’s asleep

I lose my grip

I slip
