Something had been bugging Techno the whole week, and he knew he couldn't ignore it any longer. He sat in the classroom, looking over the freshmen in his class who were quietly working on an assignment he had given. As he did so, though, his eyes always landed on one boy in the back of the class. His name was Ranboo: a good kid, albeit quiet and socially ousted. Techno frowned slightly, having a feeling he was a target of bullying—he knew how kids like that acted, and could pick up on it fairly well. And as a good teacher, when he noticed something was off, he would do something about it.

Snapping out of his thoughts as the bell rang, Techno stood up and looked over the classroom. "Finish up those papers by tomorrow, alright? We'll go over them then."

People began to file out of the classroom, and luckily for Techno, Ranboo was one of the last. He quickly walked up to the tall boy, holding a note. "Ranboo, take this."

Ranboo turned around, anxiety dancing evidently in red and green eyes. Techno offered him a reassuring smile as the other took the sticky note. "It's not anythin' bad, don't worry. Just wanted to give you the opportunity."

With that, Ranboo meekly nodded and shuffled off, Techno moving back to his desk and getting things ready for his next class. He looked back out the door and sighed quietly, hoping the freshman would take him up on his offer.

Ranboo couldn't stop thinking about the note Mr.Blade had given him, it's words engraved into his mind as he fidgeted with the paper, folding and unfolding it.

'Come to my room during lunch, it's nicer than the cafeteria,' it said. Ranboo chewed on his cheek—what did it mean, exactly? Did it mean that he could hang out in the classroom for the lunch period? Why was he picked out for this? Were there others? How did Mr.Blade know he hated the cafeteria? A quiet groan left the heterochromatic boy and he refocused on the English lesson. Next period was lunch, so it wouldn't be too long before he gets answers, at least.

Thankfully, they didn't do much that class period and the bell went off soon enough. As opposed to his usual reluctant walk to the cafeteria, Ranboo instead made his way to where Mr.Blade's room was. A mix of anxiety and excitement made the tips of his fingers tingle, the door in sight now and moving ever closer. Barely anyone was in the hallway anymore, all down in the lunchroom or the other classrooms, so luckily he didn't get any weird looks. Once in front of the door, Ranboo only hesitated for a moment, then opened it and walked in.

The first thing he was greeted by was Mr.Blade behind his desk, eating with a book in his hand. Upon hearing the door open, though, he looked up and gave Ranboo a half smile, waving him over. Surprisingly, the brunette found himself reciprocating the gesture, walking over to his desk and noticing a few other students littered among the desks as he did, all quietly eating and doing other small tasks.

"Hey, Ranboo. I'm glad you came. Feel free to sit anywhere. As long as you're quiet and don't disrupt anyone, you're welcome to come here durin' lunch."

Ranboo blinked in surprise, not used to this level of kindness from anyone, really. His heart warmed and smile widened further. "O-Oh, uh... thank you, Mr.Blade."

"Techno's fine, kid. Now go eat your lunch before you forget to," the teacher replied with a light chuckle.

He nodded and scampered off to his usual desk which was mercifully vacant, setting his things down and beginning to eat. Thoughts swirled through his head, mostly about how he was supposed to repay this sort of kindness. He almost felt guilty about just accepting it with no payment—it didn't sit right with him.

So, as Ranboo sat and ate, he took out his notebook and started to write out a plan.

It had been a week now and Techno was happy to see Ranboo had become a regular visitor during his lunchtime hideaway sessions. The kid seemed happier, too, so he was glad to have cheered him up. He watched as Ranboo became friends with two semi-regulars, Tommy and Tubbo—two freshmen from his class as well who were quite the notorious gremlins. Techno was very pleased to see the three getting along well and Ranboo making friends, his mind much more at ease from knowing the brunette now had others he could rely on.

Early one morning, well before first period began, Techno was sitting in his classroom grading papers. He sighed quietly and set his glasses aside, massaging his temple in irritation—less about the students' work, more about how little sleep he was running on. He took another gulp of his coffee and marinated in the warmth of it, keeping his eyes closed and allowing his mind to calm.

A hesitant knock at the door made Techno open his eyes, sharply breathing out through his nose in irritation. He set down his mug and swiveled his chair to face the partially closed door, calling out in a tired voice, "Come in."

The last thing he expected to see were red and green eyes poking through and looking at him. Techno felt surprise fill him and he quickly softened his gaze, allowing the tired irritation from before wash away. "Oh, good mornin', Ranboo. Need somethin'?"

"Actually, no, I don't. I, uh, have something to give you." Techno raised an eyebrow at this, watching as the nervous boy walked over to his desk. His hands were held behind himself, hiding the gift in question. Techno leaned back in his chair, looking up at him and tilting his head.

"Oh, alright then. What is it?"

Ranboo started to visibly fidget, standing there quietly, but luckily Techno was a very patient man. Eventually Ranboo gained his courage and held out a box about the size of his palm. "I-I wanted to thank you for being so nice to me, so I made you this."

Carefully taking the box from Ranboo, he looked down at it and opened it up. His eyes widened in further surprise as he looked at the gift itself, taking it out and examining it. It was a beautifully detailed and glazed clay axe made of shimmering purple and brown. Ranboo spoke again, further explaining the gift, "It's a paper weight. I noticed you like weapons because of the wall—" he said, motioning to the wall of swords and other artifacts he had, "—and so I made you an axe since you didn't have one already."

Techno was... quite honestly at a loss for words. He felt warmth flare up in his chest and couldn't look away from the incredible piece of art. After a minute more of staring, he daintily placed the paper weight in front of his desk where everyone was sure to see it, then turned back to Ranboo and smiled. "Thank you, Ranboo. I love it. But know that you didn't have to do this, alright? You don't need to repay me."

"I know! I just wanted to, it's in my nature a guess." Ranboo shrugged and awkwardly chuckled, glancing back at the clock in the room. "Oh—I should be getting to class. See you later, Techno!"

Ranboo happily waved before walking off, Techno mirroring the gesture. When he was alone once more, he let out an affectionate huff and looked at the gift again, infinitely grateful to have the opportunity to teach someone as wonderful as Ranboo.
