A couple of days later, Carlos jumped out of bed early and hurried to check out Maria. He didn't want another angry call from Mike.
As he walked by the newspaper stall, his jaw dropped open.
His beloved Maria was on the front page of all the newspapers. "The vending machine that sells luck", screamed one of those. He grabbed a copy and took a quick look.
People miraculously got their dream jobs, met their true loves or found bagfuls of money on the street after buying something from Maria. It seemed people all over the world were planning to visit the vending machine that sold luck for pennies.
As he approached Maria, he found her surrounded by dozens of people.
"Let me pass!" Carlos screamed.
Although some people hoorayed on his arrival, Carlos gave them a grumpy nod.
