"Emmy, what the shuck are you doing?" Asked Zart while he pulled a weed out of the ground.
She quickly stood up and hid the flower she had grabbed behind her back. "Nothing," she replied.
"Exactly. Get to work, Greenie."
Emmy hadn't received very clear instructions from Zart and walked around aimlessly, hoping someone would tell her what to do.
"Hey, Emmy," called Newt from far off. He limped towards her as she waited to hear what he wanted. "Winston and Alby decided that you should help him gather the chickens you let loose the other day."
She was almost thankful to get away from the Gardens. It was so boring. So, she ran to Newt and he took her back to the Blood House. The familiar scent of animals filled her lungs and (though not the most pleasant of smells) it calmed her.
"I didn't let them loose," Emmy said sardonically before Newt could walk away.
"Well, you did bring down the whole bloody structure, but hey! The past is in the past. Just catch the buggin' chickens." Newt replied and then left.
Winston approached Emmy and simply wished her luck. She assumed he wouldn't be helping her and made her way to the newly built chicken coop. At the sight of it, she remembered working on it with Gally and smile appeared on her face. She had no idea why just the thought of the stern boy sent chills across her entire body.
He isn't exactly ugly, She thought to herself. Quite the opposite really. She hated herself for thinking it, but she was finally able to admit that she was smitten by the tall, muscular, and rude Gally.
"Of all the boys you know...why him?" She whispered.
Emmy then decided to just forget about Gally for the time being and do her job. She looked around her and saw almost twenty chickens scattered about.
"This is going to take forever," She sighed. One of the hens walked in front of her and she reached to grab it. It ran away quickly and she was forced to chase after it, feeling like a complete idiot.
"Would you please just--ugh!" She exlaimed, giving up on that particular chicken. This went on for what seemed to her to be an eternity but in reality was only around two hours before all of the chickens were back in the coop. All except one. Emmy wanted to assume it was Meanie just for the fun of it, but she really couldn't tell. If it wasn't Meanie, it must have been her twin because the hen gave her the worst time. She chased it for a good five minutes before she thought it the appropriate time to spring.
Emmy lunged at the bloody hen and faceplanted. But she had the chicken in her hands. She laughed in relief and then heard a cough from above her. She looked up to see none other than Gally. With a face as red as a tomato, she stood up, holding the chicken firmly.
"W-what are you doing here?" She asked.
"Came to make sure you weren't gonna wreck the place again." He retorted.
"I'm fully capable of doing things the right way, Gally," She spat. He looked at her in shock, surprised at her tone. He then smiled and nodded.
"Alright, Greenie. I believe you." Gally said.
Emmy returned the difficult hen to the coop and closed the wood door before any could escape.
"What are you supposed to be doing for the rest of the day?" He asked.
