"Professor," Charlie pulled away from the pensive. Vials scattered all around him. Several still untouched. "I don't understand."
"How can you when you've yet to finish?"
"Yes, but this girl. Who is she?"
Mcgonnagal's glasses dipped down. She peered above them. "I happen to remember this student well. She indeed was the brightest witch in her class. Though it came at such a cost."
"She is rather lonely." In the least, he resonated with that.
"I find solitude a gift, especially to the gentle at heart. No, the cost I'm thinking of came later."
"What accident do they speak of? What happened that summer?"
"Best to dive back in. I'll return once it's finished." She retreated further into her study. "And see that you do, Mr. Weasley. Finish that is."
"Very well." Charlie held his breath on instinct, plunging his face back into the pool.
The girl with white hair stood before a wide mirror. Stormy eyes brightened against matching satin.
