"Yeh... Yeh sab kya hai?"
Though it was a whisper at first, his voice raised to an octave soon enough.
"Yeh mandap mein kya kar rahi hai? Shubha kahan hai?" Anirudh asked Batuk.
Batuk and Rudhira stood up, both their eyes facing the floor.
"Batuk kuch pooch raha hoon mein tumse" Anirudh warned.
"KSJ... Batayiye na. Yeh kya ho raha hai yahan pe? Batuk ne... Batuk ne Rudhira se shaadi kyun ki?" Bondita asked Da, shaking his hands and searching his eyes.
Da just sighed and turned away from her in anger. He didn't wanted it either.
"Sasur Ji ap toh batayiye" she turned to me.
I shrugged and kept my spectacle in place. They shouldn't know.
"Koyi batayega? Kab se puch raha hoon sab se?" Anirudh yelled.
"Dada!"
I was shocked to hear Batuk. Wait, he won't tell him, will he?
"Haan, meine Rudhira se shaadi kiya hai. Aur ab, yeh meri Patni hai" he replied impassively.
Both my eyebrows rose unknowingly. Well, that was pretty rude. But fine.
"Kya matlab hai tumhara? Toh phir Shubha ka kya?" Anirudh raged.
"Tumne use... dhoka diya?" Bondita questioned.
"Kaka ap bhi iskeliye sehmat hogaye?" Anirudh turned to Da.
"Jo hona hai, woh hokar hi rahega Anirudh! Takdeer ko koyi nahi badal sakta" Da replied annoyed.
"Meine kisiko dhoka nahi diya hai! Mujhe jo sahi laga, meine woh kiya"
For a moment, I could see the hurt flashing through his eyes. But he covered it up almost immediately. He's indeed my son!
"Yeh sahi hai? Kis disha se tumhe yeh sahi lag raha hai?" Anirudh crossed his arms.
"Anirudh! Shaadi hogayi hai. Ab rehno do" I interrupted.
"Aise keise rehne do Baba? Ise jawab dena hi hoga" he turned to Batuk again.
"Mujhe jo bolna hai, meine bol diya hai Dada" Batuk retorted coldly.
"Nahi Batuk! Mein bohot achi tarah janta hoon ki kuch... kuch toh galat hua hai yahan. Bolo... tumne yeh shaadi kyun kiya"
Oh no! How am I going to stop this persistent Anirudh now?
"Somu dada... Laya... tum log bhi nahi bataoge kya?" Bondita turned to them.
Laya and Som stole a glance and looked down, anger clear in their faces too.
"Batuk kuch hua hai toh bata do, ham hal dhoond lenge, sab theek kar denge. Kisine zabardasti kiya kya?" she turned to him.
"Koyi zabardasti nahi huyi hai Boudi" Batuk gritted his teeth "Meine aur Rudhira ne apne ichanusar hi shaadi kiya hai"
"Kya samjhun mein is jawab ka Batuk? Yeh teen-char maheene tum jo deewana banke ghoom raha tha, woh kya tha? Shubha Shubha karke jaap kar raha tha, uska kya? Woh sab natak tha? Agar hai toh kyun kiya? Uss ladki ko dhoka kyun di? Yahi sikhaya tha ham sab ne tumhe? Ek ladki ki ummeeden, uski zindagi barbaad kar di tumne? Yeh pyaar ka natak kyun kar raha tha tum? Maksat kya tha-"
"Bas dada!!!" Batuk shouted.
The intensity of his yell even making my chashma collapse.
"Meine kaha na meine kisiko dhoka nahi diya hai? Koyi natak nahi kar raha tha mein... Agar apko aisa laga toh woh isiliye hai, kyunki apke nazariya galat hai"
