My eyes snapped open as a searing pain flashed through my head

My eyes snapped open as a searing pain flashed through my head. I sat up on my bed and rubbed my fingers gently against the cut I got two days ago.

My eyes landed on Ted— my Teddy bear—as I smiled to myself. It might sound silly that a sixteen years old girl has an obsession with a stuffed bear, but that stuffed bear meant a lot to me. It was one of the things mum gave me.

"Mornin' Ted, nice to meet you again. I'll go back to school today. I'll miss you." I paused for a few minutes, as if I were waiting for Ted to say something, but it didn't.

"Not like I was expecting you to say something anyway." I rolled my eyes, got out of my bed and headed to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and took a shower.

I decided to wear the same baggy jeans I wore to the mall but with a baby blue hoodie. I liked blue. I tiptoed to the kitchen once I was done; to make Parker some food.

I made him two pancakes, not even bothered by the fact that they were half burnt. I sighed with relief once I saw him passed out on the couch. He wouldn't wake up anytime soon and that was good. I wouldn't have to miss the first day of school.

I went back to my room and slipped into my white vans. I then applied some foundation over the cuts on my forehead. I hung my backpack over my shoulder and went back to the kitchen to have my breakfast and take some painkillers.

After I finished eating and taking my painkillers, I left the house and started walking to school.

"How are you?" Asked Elena, welcoming me with a tight embrace.

"Fine and you?" I hugged her back.

"I'm all good."

"What about Hunt?" I asked once we pulled apart.

"He's fine. He just got into another fight with our aunt. About college and all."

"Oh. I mean if he gets enough money by training others, why would he need to go to college?"

"Dumbass," scoffed Elena. "Let's say he becomes fifty. What'll he do then? He'll literally be flipped by a guy two times younger than him."

I laughed as I imagined a fifty years old Hunter getting flipped over and falling to the ground because of a guy who's way younger than him.

"We would have a good picture though," I said, making Elena burst out into laughter. "No. No, I'm serious."

"And he'll give us one of his famous glares."

"Yeah exactly."

"Hey guys," said Henry, a bored look on his face. The thing about him was that I had never seen him smile at school. He'd either have a cold look plastered onto his face or a glare that he'd give to everyone besides me and El.
