Kirsten pulled her phone out of her jeans pocket and typed in a text message for Ali. Where are you?
She's currently in the middle of Algebra class listening to Mr. Klausner's lecture about Graphing Systems in Linear Inequalities whatever that is. Well it's not as if he has her full attention but at least she's trying not to fall asleep in the middle of his class. She'd been fighting the urge to do so eversince she stepped into the room. She doesn't hate Math. But she doesn't love it either.
She felt her phone vibrated from her jeans pocket and she carefully pulled it out again to read the message.
Meet you at the hallway. Ali replied.
Ok. She typed in very quickly careful not to be caught by Mr. Klausner.
Ali is her ride home since unfortunately her car will take a few more days to get fixed. When the bell rang signaling the end of the class, Kirsten hurriedly gathered her books and joined the other students making their way out of the classroom.
She saw Ali walking towards her. They linked their arms together as soon as they reached each other.
"We're going to the gym first. I need to get the house keys from Xander. I lost mine." She says half dragging her.
"You lost your keys again? For the 4th time?" And when she said it was for the 4th time she wasn't exaggerating.
"Hey what can I do? I tend to always misplace my stuff."
When they entered the gym her eyes immediately caught Xander. He was sitting in the bleacher together with two of his team mates. He was holding a bottle of water and wiping the sweat that had formed on his forehead with a towel. The others are scattered all around the gym. They looked like they just came from an intense basketball practice. Finals is in a month so the team had been practicing quite more often.
"Hey!" Ali shouted. All eyes turned to the both of them. Great. Did she really have to shout and get all their attention? The guys waved and smiled to them. And Xander gestured for them to come over. She was feeling hesitant so Ali had to half-drag her again.
So this the kind of moment Kirsten had been avoiding. All eyes were fixed on them while they were walking towards the guys. Some didn't even try to be discreet in checking them out. Or checking Ali out rather. Boys. Seriously the word Pervert should be added in Thesaurus as it's synonym! When she looked at Ali she was batting her eyelashes and flicking her hair obviously loving the attention she's been getting from the hot, sweaty bad boys in the court. She hates to say this but her friend can really be such a flirt sometimes!
"Hi guys!" Ali greeted when they finally reached them.
"Hi Ali. So when are you going to say yes to my offer?" That was Greg putting his arm around Ali's shoulder.
"I'll let you know when I made up my mind Greggy boy." Ali answered.
"I hope that offer is not something indecent coz if it is you're dead man. That's my sister you're talking to and take your hands off her." Xander snapped tapping Greg's shoulder in a not so playful way. He groaned in pain.
"Aw man. No need to go all protective. Your sister here is already a big girl aren't you Ali?" Greg asked with a smirk.
"Of course I am." Ali answered very flirtatiously.
"Cut it. You're making me sick." Xander said crunching his nose like he is disgusted with the scene.
"What is your coach fussing about?" Kirsten suddenly asked. She noticed their coach is fidgeting while talking to some of the guys and he seems to be so worried about something.
