{Lydia's POV}

*ring ring!* I groaned, and groggily rose out of bed.

*RING RING!* I snatched up my phone.

"Hello?" I said, sleepily.

"Oh I'm sorry! Did I wake you up?" asked Damon, anxiously.

"Well, yeah, but it’s fine!" I replied with a laugh. If it was anyone else but him, I would've been really mad. I am not a morning person.

"Oh okay... That's good," he said.

I waited for him to explain why he called.

"So," he said in a goofy voice.  I giggled.  Oh, Damon.

"I was wondering," he continued, "if you would like to hang out today?"

Oh. That was kind of unexpected. I mean yeah, we had become really good friends, but hanging out... It's on another level. And this meant we're either just becoming better friends, or something more...

I wonder which one it was.

I suddenly remembered I have to answer his question.

"Um, yeah, sure! What'd you have in mind?"

"Well," he started. He sounded more relaxed now that we had got past that part. "I was thinking we could go to a place and eat, and then go see a movie. I really want to go see The Hobbit."

I've wanted to see that too; everyone was talking about it.

"Me too! That sounds fun, what time do you want to pick me up? Or however you want to do it," I said, kind of nervous.

"I can pick you up. And the next showing for The Hobbit is at 12, so I can come get you at 10:30, maybe, and we can eat and go to the movie?"

I looked at my phone, it was 9.

"Yeah, sounds good. Thanks Damon!" I said, smiling.

"It's cool!" he said, and started rambling on, talking like a gangster.

"Damon!" I yelled, interrupting him, "I've got to get ready!" I finished, laughing.

He laughed too, "Alright, Lydia. See you, then!"

"See ya, Damon," I said, still smiling. I hung up, and rushed to get ready.

I threw on a blue and white floral shirt with a soft blue cardigan, jeans, and a pair of TOMs.  I put my long brown hair up in a braid to the side, the way I wore it on the day I met Damon. I smiled at the memory. That was a really good day. I thought it would be awful! First day at a new school usually is. But Damon saved me from that usually horrific, lonely first day.

The memory of what happened on the night before my first day (Josh breaking up with me), came rushing back to me.

The screaming, the fighting.

Him hitting me.

The cutting...

I don't know why I stayed with Josh all that time. It wasn't good for me at all. I guess I was just afraid of what he would do if I left...

But that's over now. And I'm so glad. Josh is out of my life, and Damon's in.

I looked at the time; only about 30 minutes had past.  So, I picked up a book and read until I heard a knock on the door.

~~

"Hey, Lydia!" said Damon, giving me a hug.

"Hey there, Damon!" I said in a goofy voice, hugging him back.
