Diane curled her body onto the laptop that was resting on the dining room table. Joey liked to think Diane could sense he was getting riled up with work and needed help taking a break. He leaned back against the chair in a huff. Writing for the newest Tin Can project was kicking his butt and he was becoming frustrated, anxious, and exhausted. Covering his eyes in his palms he tried to calm himself down but his brain was moving too fast and too loud. He hadn't even heard Lauren getting off the couch nor had he heard her making her way over to him. Only once she had rested her hand on his shoulders rubbing soft circles into his upper back did he let out a deep sigh and remove his hands. He brought one to rest crossbody on hers leaning his head back onto her stomach.

"Babe we gotta get you a break you're losing it." Lauren said into Joey's hair in a near whisper before leaving a kiss on top of his head.

"Oh yeah? What are you thinking?" Joey asked with a smirk but the tension still lacing his words. Lauren slid her left hand into his hair softly pushing it back.

"I passed Holy Smokes while walking Diane and I might have stopped in." She began and then moved to her bag where she pulled out the new viles of varying oils and a small bag of gummies knowing they were Joeys favorite.

Joey stared at the brunette hungrily. She couldn't tell if that look was meant for her, the special Cocoa Pebble Rice Krispie treats he knew she was about to make, or simply the desire to be distracted but she would never complain about any looks of attention he gave her. She giggled and put the gummies on the opposite end of the table far away from him.

"I'm going to make dessert and a pan of Macaroni and Cheese. You finish your last thoughts and when the food is done, you're done for the night. Got it?" She called from the kitchen preparing her various ingredients. She didn't need to look to know he was rolling his eyes but smiling nonetheless.

He turned his head back down to Diane on his computer. Shifting her slightly he hammered out what he could in the allotted time before giving one final scan and shutting his laptop.

Joey was excited as the smell of his comfort food wrapped around him. Sure, he and Lauren had gotten high with friends or ingested a little to calm nerves and sleep better, but they hadn't gotten properly high for the sake of being high, just the two of them, in a long while.

He could see Lauren pulling the now baked off Mac and Cheese from the oven and moved to grab plates and utensils. He grabbed a bunch of random snacks on the way back including; potato chips, dried banana chips, white chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups, baby carrots, whipped cream, and a bag of Hot Cheetos to make the Mac and cheese that Tessa and Joe suggested. It's was a nauseating combination and an exorbitant amount of food but he knew intoxicated Joey would thank him for it.

He returned to the kitchen and stood beside Lauren watching her delicately cut two fairly sizable squares of the cocoa pebble treats. He quickly noticed that she had made two pans. He didn't know why she had made so many for just the two of them unless she had invited other people and they wouldn't have been alone after all. He immediately felt a wave of disappointment wash over him as he tried to piece it all together with the very limited clues he had. His eyebrows must have been furrowed because she launched into an explanation the second she looked to him and she placed the squares on plates.

"This one" she gestured with her free hand to the Pan that now had a long rectangle missing from it "has the oil in it." She licked the remaining marshmallow from her fingers before bringing the pan to the fridge. "That one is our sober pan." She returned to the stove top cutting it all out in squares preemptively. "These are for when we want to have more cocoa treats in an hour because they are delicious and also munchies but we can't afford to get higher than we already are."
