Peter's POV:
Y/n grabbed my hand and took off running.
I was extremely confused.
I kept looking behind us to see what we were running from, but there didn't seem to be any kind of threat.
After about a minute of running we found Jean and Scott.
"Umm... do you mind telling me what's going on?"
I asked, extremely confused.
"My friends are back there. The ones from this universe. I can't let them see me."
"What? Why not?"
Y/n looked down at the ground.
"I never really said goodbye or told them where I was going."
Suddenly a guy with blonde hair came over to us and tapped y/n on the shoulder.
She turned around to meet his gaze.
"Y/n? Is that you?"
"Umm... yes?"
She didn't seem to know how to react to the situation.
"We thought you were missing or something. Nobody ever told us where you went."
"Oh, I moved schools."
"Oh. Why don't you come hangout with us sometime. We miss seeing you."
"Yeah, for sure."
I could see that y/n was starting to get tense.
Before I knew it the guy ran away.
"Who was that?"
"That was my friend Leo."
Y/n looked back over to see all her friends coming towards us.
She quickly hid her hands behind her back as purple mist began to build up around her.
They all gathered around her and said their greetings.
"Y/n, you should come hangout with us tonight! We're going swimming at our hotel."
"Oh, I don't have a swimsuit."
One of the girls chimed in and offered to lend her one.
She reluctantly followed behind the group to go swimming.
As she left, Storm approached me and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
Y/n looked back, clearly disappointed.

Your POV:
You followed your friends to one of their hotel rooms and changed into a swimsuit.
As you walked outside you could see a lot of people already in the pool.
You decided to sit down and read some comics.
After a little while you warmed up to your friends and started to enjoy talking to them.
They asked you about your new school and any new friends you've made.
You told them about Jean and Scott and Kurt.
But you left out the whole mutant part.
When you got to the part about Peter and how he was your best friend, your ex started acting weird.
"Best friend? He better not be doing anything."
"Anthony, just let her tell the story."
You explained that Peter showed you around the city on the first night and had helped you adjust to your new school.
Everyone kept talking and the night was fun, until your friend, Michael, came over and sat in the same chair as you.
Anthony quickly took notice of this.
"Michael, there's other chairs around."
"Nah, I'm good."
You were very confused. Michael had never been super friendly towards you, and was sometimes even downright rude.
You shrugged it off and went back to reading a QuickSilver comic. Peter brought you a lot of comfort, even if he was just a drawing on a page.
Suddenly Michael ripped the comic out of your hand and threw it into the pool.
"HEY! I was reading that!"
You hit him and ran over to the pool.
You fished the comic out of the water and assessed the damage.
Luckily, none of the print was ruined, but the comic would need to dry.
You went back and sat down on the ground, pulling another QuickSilver comic from your backpack.
"Asshole."
Michael sat down next to you and pulled you into a kiss.
You pushed him off of you and stood up.
"MICHAEL!"
Anthony ran over and yelled at him.
"Don't touch her!"
He shoved Michael and the two boys started yelling.
Your other friends joined in and either defended Michael or Anthony. You noticed that nobody was really defending you.
Suddenly the weight in your chest and your headache returned.
You fell to the ground in pain as a red mist started crawling across the concrete next to the pool.
The more yelling there was, the more you lost control of your powers.
You reached over and shot Peter a text before screaming in pain.
Within a few seconds Peter was standing in front of you.

Peter's POV:
I got a text from y/n saying she needed help.
I ran to each hotel, when finally I found her and her friends next to a pool at one of them.
I slowed down and took y/n's hand, and propped her up against me.
She screamed in pain.
I had no idea what to do. I had never seen her powers hurt her before.
I looked up at her friends.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?! YOU PEOPLE ARE SELFISH."
They all turned to face me.
Some kid with dark brown hair gave me a strange look.
"I'm Peter. You guys have to stop fighting. None of you even noticed that y/n was in pain."
Then she let out the most horrifying scream I had ever heard and a pair of red wings appeared. They looked similar to the pink ones, but these ones were clearly hurting her.
"You ignored her. Your anger is hurting her, she can't handle that much."
"What the hell is happening to her?"
I looked down at her, then back up at them.
"She's a mutant. She absorbs the emotions around her. You guys are hurting her and you don't even give a shit."
They all looked away. They had no idea what to do.
"This is probably why she didn't want to run into you guys again. She's not even in control of her powers yet. She's been working so hard to keep the people around her safe and you guys have caused her so much pain."
I squeezed her tightly.
"Y/n? Are you okay?"
She groaned in pain.
"Everything will be okay, we're going to get you some help."
I took one last look at her friends before picking her up and zooming her to my hotel room.
I gave her a kiss on the forehead and turned on her favorite show.
After a few minutes her eyes opened and the wings faded away.
"Peter?"
She asked as she turned her head towards me.
I practically jumped on top of her to give her a hug.
She sat up quickly.
"Did I hurt anyone?!"
"No, no, of course not. They hurt you."
She groaned and whacked a pillow onto her face.
"I can't believe that I lost control of my powers."
"Hey, it's not your fault."
"I could have hurt someone."
"But you didn't."
She looked down for a moment.
"No, but I just lost all my friends."
I laid down next to where she was sitting and looked up at her.
"Not all of them."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you kind of have a new group. I know that change is hard, but you've made a lot of nice friends since you arrived at the mansion. Scott, Jean, and Kurt are all crazy about you. They think you're so much fun."
"Really?"
I sat up and brushed the hair out of her face.
"Really. Friend groups change. I think that's just what's happening for you."
She smiled at me and I pulled her into a kiss.
"I will be honest though. When I saw you lying there, I was terrified."
"Trust me, I was too. My powers have never hurt me like that."
I grabbed out a notebook and a pen.
"Maybe we should keep track of your powers."
I began to write a few things down.
"Pink, love, light blue, happiness, red, anger."
"Purple is fear."
I wrote down the colors we had seen so far.
"Tell me how each of these made you feel."
"With pink I felt warm and protected. Light blue, I felt energetic. Red..."
She paused for a moment and I looked over at her.
"I'm not sure."
"What do you mean?"
She put her head into her hands.
"Red has happened three times and it felt different each time."
"What times? How did they feel?"
"The first time I saw you and storm. I felt a heavy weight in my chest. The second time was the same scenario, but I got a headache. And... you know what happened the third time."
"Storm and I made you angry?"
"No. You and Storm both seemed frustrated. It was a lot for me to handle. Kurt had to hold my hand to share some energy with me."
"OH! That's why you two were-"
"Wait. I also had green. Dark green."
I write down dark green in the notebook.
"I felt dark green coming from you. It felt stressful and like my mind was racing. I think green is jealousy."
Y/n watched as I wrote everything down and set down the notebook.
"Y/n... I had no idea that Storm and I were causing you pain. I'll admit, I was a bit jealous today. I wanted that to be me. I feel like my situation with Storm is ruining the trip."
Scott entered the room at that moment.
"Oh hey guys! I just had the most awesome night with Jean, first we..."
I tuned out what Scott was saying as I looked up at him then down at y/n. She was looking up and him and laughing at his story. Her smile was gorgeous.
I zoomed out of the room quickly.
I ran into the park to go find Storm.
I found her in line for Splash Mountain with Raven.
"Hey, Storm?"
She looked over at me.
"Oh, Peter!"
"You wanna walk with me for a bit?"
"Yeah, for sure!"
She got out of line and followed me.
"So what's up?"
I looked down at her with a sorry look.
"I actually had something I needed to talk to you about."
"PETER LOOK! One of the princesses is over there!"
I grabbed her shoulders to refocus her attention back on me.
"Ororo, I need you to focus."
She stopped jumping and looked up at me.
"Peter, why have you been acting like a jerk the whole trip."
"BECAUSE YOU'RE USING ME."
I slapped a hand over my mouth, realizing that I had just totally lost control.
"Peter, I..."
"Listen, Ororo. I recently learned that you don't have an ex. You lied to me to trick me into dating you."
Her eyes filled up with tears.
"Peter, I'm so sorry."
"I don't think you are. If you were, you wouldn't have done it in the first place."
"But now that you know, can't we just be together?"
"No. I don't... feel that way about you. I'm in love with y/n. I have been since she got here."
"Oh."
She walked over to a nearby bench and sat down.
"Listen, even if I did like you, I couldn't be with someone who lied to me, and I can't fake my feelings for you. That wouldn't be fair to either of us."
"Yeah, I guess not."
She said, turned away. She wiped away the tears streaming down her face.
I grabbed her waist from behind and hugged her, resting my head on her shoulder.
"Listen, fake dating you has been fun. I really do like hanging out with you, but it just can't be as girlfriend and boyfriend."
She wiped her hand across her face one last time before turning towards me and returning the hug.
"Peter, I'm so sorry, I should never have used you like that. I know that I can't fix this, but I have enjoyed hanging out with you, and I really like y/n. I would like to stay friends with you guys."
"Of course."
"So, break up?"
"Break up."
We have each other a small fist bump and I put my arm around her as we walked back to the hotel.
"Peter?"
"Yeah."
"What made you decide to confront me?"
"Listening to Scott talk about Jean. That's how I feel about y/n."
"You guys really are soulmates."
We walked back into the hotel room.
