'wanna go for a hike?' - Steve Rogers x Reader

Summary: request from tumblr​ : 'Can i request a fic where Steve loves the new Avenger but she oblivious to his feelings. She thinks 'oh he just wants to be friends' but all the times he and her hang out she is oblivious. So one day he and her go on a hike and he just tells her he likes her. And she reciprocates his feelings.'

You were amazed when you were recruited into the Avengers because of your hacking abilities, also you weren't that bad with aiming a gun so you were able to be part of many field missions since you had started. You got along with everyone easily, Natasha quickly became one of your closest friends, maybe because she needed the female support, but you loved her and you could tell her anything without being scrutinised the way you would be if you told the boys.

Steve was like a lost puppy without you around, he seemed to always enjoy your company and you were grateful that the captain liked you away from the job as well when you were in the field. He was always the one who volunteered to help you when you needed it, whether that was with any combat training or just someone to reach for the mugs on the top shelf in the kitchen. Steve was amazing and you couldn't help but fall head over heels for him, but why would he want you? All you were was a hacker, you were no Peggy Carter, so why would you even think that you would have a chance with the super soldier?

Steve looked over at you and Nat as you both giggled on the couch, watching something on the laptop that is perched on your knee. Steve couldn't help but smile, knowing that you were happy made him smile, it made the butterflies flutter in his stomach. He has tried to show you how much he likes you for the past few months now, but every time he has tried, you were too oblivious to notice.

He sighs to himself as he sips his coffee, looking back at his own laptop sat on the table in front of him, a mission report open for him to finish so he could send it back to Fury ready for the next mission they are bound to be going on in a week or so. Fury just needed to say the word then they would be on the Quinjet ready to save the world one Hydra mission at a time.

Tony walks in and smirks at the lovesick man sat at the table, pouring his own mug of coffee before standing by Steve. "You know, if you liked the girl that much you should just tell her..." He says softly enough for Steve to hear but for you to not realise they were in a conversation.

Steve scoffs before looking up and shaking his head at Tony, setting his mug down. "Don't you think I might have already tried that, but she thinks that I am saying I like her like I only want to be friends with her..." Steve says gently before looking back at his laptop screen.

"Maybe then, Mr 1940s, you need to try a bit harder, swoop her off her feet with something very romantic that it smacks her in the face when she realises that you like her in a more than friends way..." Tony says, smirking at the blond before shrugging and walking away, taking his coffee back to his lab so he can leave Steve to think about how he would express his true feelings to you.

It wasn't until a few days later when Steve hatched his plan into action, he knew that the rest of the team were busy with their own projects and assignments that you would be free for him to spend some time alone with you.

He walked towards your bedroom in the compound, smiling to himself when he saw that your door was open, like you were ready to accept anyone in as they pass by. You were sat at your desk, laptop open with some soft music playing. You were actually wearing one of Steve's hoodies that you had stolen one time when he was away on a mission with a pair of leggings on, you were literally the definition of comfy at the moment.

You feel a pair of eyes watching you as you read through a case file slowly, making you turn towards the door slowly, a smile gracing your lips as you see Steve lean against the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest. You bite your lip a little as you take in his biceps before covering for yourself, smiling at him.

"What do I owe the pleasure of Captain America's company?" You ask and sits up a little before pausing the music playing from your laptop.

"You busy?" He asks and you shake your head, raising your eyebrows curiously at him. "Wanna go for a hike? Its a nice day out..."

You watch Steve, noticing that he seems a little nervous about asking you to spend the day with him. You smile at how sweet he is about asking you on a hike so you know that you wouldn't be able to say no to him, please you wouldn't mind getting out of the compound for a few hours.

"Sure, let me get changed then we can go?"

His smile brightens immediately at your response, nodding and leaving you be so you can get ready.

You stare out at the lake near the compound, smiling to yourself as you breath in the clean air. It was beautiful and you knew that you needed to get out here more, especially because of how close it was to where the compound was. You glance over at Steve, he was trying to skim stones on the water. You shake your head to yourself before looking back out at the trees on the opposite bank.

"You know, its crazy how something so peaceful is so close to the compound..." You say and walks over to Steve as he bends down to find some more stones to skim.

"I know..." He chuckles and stands up slowly, looking down at you gently, smiling to you before passing a stone to you to have a go.

"Oh, I don't know how to do that..." You say shyly, blushing as you stare at the flat stone in your hand. What took you by surprise was that Steve stood behind you, resting his hands on your arms, teaching you to skim stones.

You stood in each other's arms for a good 20 minutes as Steve tries to teach you before he steps away and drops his arms. "There is something I need to tell you..." He says softly and bites his lip as he waits for you to face him, his eyes shining with worry as you look up at him.

"You know that you can tell me anything Steve... I know that you are my Captain, but I am hoping that you do also see me as your friend..." You say and steps a little closer, trying to get him to look you in the eyes.

You notice that he takes a deep breath before looking at you, reaching up to caress your cheek with his hand. "I like you...a lot..." He says, fear eclipsing his eyes before he gathers his courage to continue what he has wanted to say to you for a few months now. "You are the most amazing person that I have met, so smart that you could rival Tony and Bruce, and you are such a wonderful friend that I couldn't help myself but end up falling in love with you..."

You gasp a little, making Steve look up at your eyes properly, before smiling slowly, deciding to show him how you felt instead of telling him. You grip his t-shirt lightly before pulling him in for a kiss, smiling into it gently as he reciprocates the kiss instantly, pulling you closer.

When you both pull away you can't help but smile widely up at him, love shining in both your eyes. "I have fallen in love with you too Steve..." You whisper as you hug him tightly as you both watch the sunset together. Ready to face the world together as partners at work and in life.
