The new moon

Chapter 5

About 20 minutes later we arrived in a silver castle. The inside was magnificent, with huge silver 

chandeliers and silver furniture. It was like I walked into a mirror!

Selene laughed. I looked at her, "what?"

"Oh nothing." She smiled

"Darn, said that out loud didn't I?'

She smiled again "Yep, you definitely did. But anyways lets go see your siblings."

Then something weird happened. Orange smoke curled up around me and I was really confused. 

Wasn't that's the color of Hephaestus's smoke? Then the smoke cleared and I was back in 

Hephaestus's forge.

"What???" I yelled "No No No No! This can't be happening. Selene! Are you there?"

"Hephaestus!!!" I growled "Uhhgg! Come on! Fine! I'll find your miserable spider."

There was a door I hadn't seen before on the other side of the room so I went over and opened 

the door and went into another long corridor but this time there were weird symbols on the 

walls. One that stood out was a triangle that was black unlike the others that were brown. Then I 

remembered what Hephaestus said. After I remembered what he said it clicked. I was in the 

labyrinth! The one that Daedalus created. And that symbol was the Greek letter Delta, the 

symbol for Daedalus, the most amazing inventor the world has ever seen! Rumor has it that after 

Minos died he retreated to his old workshop and is still there because the labyrinth is tied to his 

life force. Then I started screaming "Oh no Oh no!" Over and over again. I would never get out of 

here. The labyrinth is a network of hallways and it's so hard to navigate that if you're not careful 

you could walk 3 feet to the left and end up in New Mexico! I was never getting out of here. Then 

I heard a voice calling my name farther down the hallway or whatever it's called. I didn't want to 

leave Hephaestus's forge but I had to get out eventually so I went toward the sound calling out 

"Hello, is anyone there?"

A voice from far away said "Yes is that you Lilly?"

Not sure what to do I said "Yes! Who is this?"

The voice answered "I'm Ersa, your sister. Remember? Or have you been with your human mom 

for too long?"

"What do you mean my human mom? And who is Ersa?"

The voice laughed "I'm Ersa silly! And what I mean by your human mom is I'm Lauren, your 

sister."

I literally ran towards the sound of her voice and jumped into her arms. "Lauren it's been so 

long! The last time I saw you was when our parents were together."

She smiled " It's good to see you to li'l sis."

Then it all came back to me. When I was little my mom Lauren and I would go shopping every 

Friday night and dad would just sigh and say "ok see you soon."

And we came back home at 6:00 sharp. Then one night these black men came and tried to kill 

Lauren and I but mom was waving her hands and arms and silver smoke was curling out of her 

hands. Whenever the smoke touched a man they passed out. Now mind you I was 9 years old at 

the time so I had little clue as to what was going on. So when I thought it was clear I walked 

around my mom to face her when big arms reached out and grabbed me. I yelled to my mom to 

make it let me go and she just smiled. Then the arms put me down and I ran over to Lauren. She 

was 13 at the time so she might have had a better understanding of what was going on.

My mom said to the arms in a soft sweet voice "you can come out now."

And this tall man with big muscles came out of the shadows. He had a big smile on his face and 

,he radiated warmth on a sunny day.

"Girls," my mom said "this is Helios, my brother."

A look of shock appeared on my sisters face.

"Helios?" My sister said "Is that really you?"

The man, Helios smiled even bigger "Lauren! It's good to see you again sweetheart."

I was shocked. Since when did my sister know this man? I stepped forward and said "who are 

you?"

Helios said in a sweet voice "Hi Lilly, I'm Helios, your uncle and the god of the sun."

Then the black men came back and grabbed me and ran all the way to my house and then they 

told me I was a goddess named Pandia the gave me a bottle of purple liquid and I fainted. I 

remembered that I woke up in my room and my dad was sitting on the bed. He looked at me and 

then said "your mom and I are getting divorced."

Me being 9 I had no idea what divorce meant so I asked him "what does divorce mean?" He 

smiled, pulled me into a hug then whispered in my ear "it means your mom and I are going in 

different directions. Your mom and your sister are going to moon bay and I'm staying here with 

you." Then I started crying because I had never been away from my sister or mom for more than 

a day.
