I did not know where I was. One of my hands was beyond freezing and the other one was cold but warmed my a strange kind of breath. I opened my eyes slowly and pinched my eyes back shut, on account of the bright lights of the strange room. When I was ready to open them again, I did it one at a time. I looked over to my lukewarm hand.
There was a young man with messy light brown curls laying on my arm. He was mumbling something, obviously crying. He was breathing and sighing with a strange mix of sobs.
It took me a minute to place him. I still had no idea where I was but I knew there was someone here who obviously cared for me. I didn't dare move the hand he was holding. Without trying to startle him, I spoke.
"Reid," I said, my voice sounding shaky and sick. He continued sobbing for a milisecond before he looked up, connecting his puffy red and brown eyes with mine.
"Emmy. You.. you're....NURSE!" he yelled. He slammed an open palm down on the nurses call button on the hospital bed. A woman came sprinting into the room about a minute later. She checked the monitors and my blood pressure and all the normal stuff. She tells me the doctor will see me shortly and leaves me with Reid.
"So, how are you feeling?" He asks me.
“ I'm alright, I guess. I just want to know what's going on."
"Well, I'll start here. Delanco drugged you and raped you and basically left you to die. And I came into the room in just enough time, I guess. I called 911 and then they set you up in here and here we are."
"How long have I been out of it?"
"Today makes three weeks."
"Wow. And....what about Delanco?"
Reid was silent for a minute before clearing his throat and answering.
"They have clear evidence that it was him and they've removed him of his position and he's on trial."
I puffed my chest up with air and released it slowly.
"Have you been here the whole time, Reid?" I asked.
"Yeah, I have. Emmy, I have something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now. I, uh, I'm in love with you Emmy."
