349 to Hell

After a stunned decline of Delanco's offfer, there was an expected awkward car ride to grab lunch with the team and discuss what was the next step. We decided on a little bistro on the edge of the San Tito Valley which was about twenty minutes  away. Everyone had to be packed into four rental cars which went just about like the roommate organization; Reid and I - with the exception of Delanco the Angry Driver.

Everything was relatively quiet until we got pulled the farthest back from all of the other agents. Then not - so - great things started happening.

"Dave, you just took the wrong exit. Ours was three more miles up."

"No I didn't. That was the right one." he tries to play the innocent and stupid card.

"No, it was 345, not 349." I argue.

"I think that I'm a grown ass man and that I know what I'm doing."

"Oh really,  because to me it sounds like your acting pretty childish right now."

"Shut the hell up. What do you even know anyway?"

"I know that your acting pretty damn stupid just because you didn't get what you wanted."

"I just can't understand why you would want such a dork like that." Delanco says and makes a gesture towards Reid in the back seat.

"You know what Dave or David or D$hit or whatever the hell, Reid may be the new guy and he might be a little dorky but that's a whole hell of a lot better than some tool with a piss pot attitude like you." I respond.

"Guys that's enough, seriously." Reid says and withdraws himself into the back seat.

“Dave, just turn around here at this station, please.” I ask quietly.

“I have to get gas anyway. If you need something, hurry up inside. I won’t wait for too long out here.”

Without a single word spoken to anyone, I hurriedly scuffled into the gas station to the women’s bathroom. And it was there I did the only thing I knew how to do in situations like this. I cried. And I guess either I’m a pretty loud crier or Reid knew that something was wrong because he slowly pushed open the ladies bathroom door and asked,

“Are you decent? Can I come in?”

“Yes,” I said as he shut the door behind him.

“I don’t know if you’re in here crying because you’re upset of something else or because of what just happened in the car but you need to know that its not your fault, okay? If anything, David is right."

"No, Reid, he's not right. And don't you dare think that because you are so much more than the things he says. I promise."

"Em, you're so kind to me and I...I guess I never really got to thank you for the apartment and..everything I guess and I've wanted to ask you this for a while...and I hope this isn't a bad time but...uh..do you want to go out...on a..on a date? With me?"

I threw my head up in shock and felt my eyes grow larger as the words racked over my brain a million times.

"If you don't that's completely fine. No pressure I just-"  Reid tried to finish but I wouldn't let him. I kissed him. In a gas station bathroom but it was........magical. I think.

And after about five seconds, I pulled back and blinked a few times. I looked over a Reid and watched a smirk spread onto his face. I covered my face with my hands and started laughing.

"What? What's the matter?"

"Nothing, nothing. I just...you realize that we just kissed in a gas station bathroom floor, right?" I said and laughed even more. Reid started laughing too.

"So, how about that date?" I asked.

"Um, what are you doing tonight at around 7:30?"
