You woke up well rested surprisingly for the short amount of rest you got. Your eyes slowly focused on the small amount of light that showed through Spencer's curtains. The man's arm was still around your waist and you couldn't lie, this was the most at peace you felt in months, in the arms of the man you loved. You felt him start to stir next to you and shut your eyes instantly, you wanted this to last as long as you could make it. So you pretended to still be asleep. You felt a hand brush a piece of hair from your face and tuck it behind your ear.
"I meant I don't want anyone but you." You heard the man whisper, you tried to stay as still as possible but it still makes your breath hitch. "I am so in love with you and I know you probably don't feel the same but I don't want anyone else but you and our family. I don't think I ever will."
You felt him drop a light kiss at the top of your head before squeezing you more tightly in his grasp. You didn't know what to do, Spencer had all but confessed he had feelings for you and you weren't supposed to know. Maybe you could ask Pen, she always seemed to know what to do in these situations. Yea, that's what you'd do. Spencer's breath evens as you feel him fall back asleep, a luxury you couldn't have after hearing that.
Later, when you and Spencer head into the office you wave him a quick bye before speeding like a bat out of hell to your shared office with Penelope. Once inside, you lock the doors. Penny turns to look at you with a confused expression.
"I am going to tell you something that cannot, under no circumstances, leave this A-B conversation." You say, leaning on the door. "I'm completely serious, I'll waste a Good Witch if I have to."
"Of course, Y/N. What's going on? You're scaring me."
"Spencersaidhewasinlovewithmethismorning!" You rush out. "He thought I was asleep but I wasn't and I heard it and now, I know and he doesn't know I know and–"
"WOAH! Slow down for a second and start over." Garcia says, chair turning now, fully immersed in what you had to say.
"Well, last night I couldn't sleep so I went to sleep in Spencer's room. And this morning, I heard him say he was in love with me. I didn't know what to do so I pretended to still be asleep. God, this is a mess!" You say, depositing yourself into your chair.
"Well, can I ask you this?" Penelope says. "How do you feel about him?"
You look up at her when she says that. "I love him, Penny, I really do." You sigh. "But that doesn't matter, nothing can come of it."
"Why? If you and Spencer both have feelings for each other, why not go for it?"
"Because I have to do what's right for my kid! It's not the time for us to pursue relationships. What if something happens between us and he leaves?"
"Oh, Y/N/N." Penny says, sympathetically. "You have to know Spencer would never do that, right?"
You knew she was probably right, but you didn't know that. Your child needed a stable home and a budding relationship was not the place for that. "Where me and Spencer are right now, is good. It is ideal for me to raise my baby in. I can't just change that because of how I feel. I have to do what's right for her. So if it means sacrificing, so be it." Penelope still has a sympathetic look on her face but she doesn't say anything. The years of your friend made it very easy for her to tell when your mind was made up. She could only hope that your heart would catch up with you sometime soon.
She placed a hand on your knee. "Do you want to stick back while I present the case?" She asked. You nodded. She pats you light before getting up, leaving you in the small office alone.
