Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Her daddy was a mean old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down

Fun facts: A Spaniard traveled through the area in the 1500s. It was the French who claimed the land in the 1700s. AND THEN WE WERE SOLD TO THE US :D Oklahoma history is a mess and he accepts this and is honestly proud of it because he doesn't care for people trying to learn about how he became a state. Did you know there were Natives who wanted to organize an entirely-native american state called Oklahoma? (another fun fact: there's "Indian Territory" and "Oklahoma Territory". they were put together to make Oklahoma the state) And then the attempted "Sequoyah" State, the

Oklahoma does. He's still real mad it failed. He hates history and he doesn't like the government because he came into existence due to them making him a territory and then using him as a dumping ground for his people.... and then the government let people settle on him. "Boomer Sooner" is a reference to the people who skipped the line and settled in the state. :) Fun times. He's an angry man.

Sure, Oklahoma is a conservative state, but that's not because of himself. He can't help that he's mostly surrounded by white men who took his state over. When he was younger and the government started removing people and sending them to Oklahoma and the surrounding area, he was real mad. He couldn't do anything since he was physically a kid at the time, but oh if a tornado hit the racists he wouldn't have been sad. He wanted them gone and to leave what were now his people alone. He had a lot of mother figures from the different tribes, some of which were enemies, even! Women and children weren't exempt from death. He lost a lot of people at times. So all Five of the Five Civilized Tribes supported and signed treaties with Confederates during the Civil War and frankly he can't blame them(ooc: I'm not an apologist for the civil war, I am very much not, I'm looking at this from Oklahoma's POV and uh... yeah, he's a mad guy). Yeah, he wished a lot of death upon a lot of government people.

Storms make him happy, they calm his rage and anxieties.

There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

There isn't near enough rain to wash the sins and blood off the hands of the government and the ground. He can't forget the past, it was literally how he was made. His own people had their own governments and he was okay with that! But then the Cherokee nation had their own internal civil war and he had to deal with feeling like he had failed. He didn't want to be a state. He can't forget that he had to do things he didn't want to in order to at least stay stable. There's not enough wind in the world that could rip the nails that keep him tethered to his past.

[Chorus:]
Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'Til there's nothing left standing, nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

If a tornado could come through and rip everything apart, he'd be fine with that. Because it would tear apart the people who had hurt him, and that's all he wanted as a child. He wanted his memories to be gone and to be okay again. He wanted to be rid of the people he hadn't asked for, who should've kept their land, who shouldn't have been punted to the side like they weren't worth anything.

She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people call it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge

When things go wrong for the government, he can't help but feel a very vindictive satisfaction. When he can  be safe but they're forced to deal with the fallout of their actions, he has no sympathy.

[Chorus:]

Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'Til there's nothing left standing, nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

There was a house he got to live in when he became a territory. They wanted him raised by "civilized" people. He was looked down on up until he became a state. He's the youngest, America wants to make up for the bullshit he's gone through, but there's nothing he can do to make anything up. Some wounds can't be healed, only scar over.

Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away (blown away)
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away (blown away)
'Til there's nothing left standing, nothing left of yesterday (blown away)
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,

Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away
