Alex's POV~

I woke up to the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my arms. I wanted to kiss her, but I couldn't bring myself to wake her up.
Jessica was driving. We were already out of Florida and in Alabama. It was slightly scary how fast that woman drives.
I was about to start a game on my phone when we pulled into a gas station. And I was forced out of the warm car into the frigid air to pump the gas.
I was almost done when I smelt something I wish I never would smell for a VERY long time.
The smell of the dead. The living dead that has a tendency to drink blood.
I smelt vampires. In a large number.
I was terrified. Not for me, but for my mate and her friends.
>PROTECT MATE<
My Treant side, Xavier, yelled inside my head. I put up the nozzle for the gas pump and jumped inside.
"DRIVE ,VAMPIRES!!" I yelled, waking up every one in the car.
"Baby, what's wrong?" I heard my mate say, sleep still heavy in her voice. I felt the mate's sparks lace up my arm as she grabbed it in her tiny hands.
I sighed, not wanting to scare my mate.
"I smelt vamps at the gas station we were just at"
I saw her eyes widen in fear. I felt her heart start race and her breathing accelerate. I took her small hands inside my large hands to try to calm her down.
"How far do you think they were?" Jessica asked as she made the car go faster and faster down the road.
"I don't know. A lot by how strong the smell was" I said, shivering at he memory.
I felt my hand grow warm. Almost to a hurting point. I looked down and saw Allexia's fingertips glow like they do when she's scared, angry, or using magic.
"Calm down, AlleyCat, it's gonna be fine. you got a big, strong tree guy here to protect you." I said with a smile, trying to calm her down.
She turned from the window and glares at me, and said,
"Don't try to calm me down! Those beasts took away my brother's humanity!! They made him hate me!" She started sobbing at the end.
>good job, dumb ass!! You made her cry!<
>Xavier, your not helping!!<
I quickly put my arm around her, but she shrugged it off. And is be a big, fat liar if I said it didn't sting a little.
I heard someone chuckle. Guess who the Jack ass was? Ding ding ding!! Robin come get your prize!

"Guess dating a stick isn't all it's made out to be?" Robin said, directed to Allexia.
Before I could say anything though, Ally's fingertips glowed, and Robins head was thrown into the window of the car.
"Watch what you say, because I can do a lot worse in a single flip of my hand."
Allexia growled.
Let's just say Robin didn't make any more sarcastic remarks.
I looked at her lovingly. even if she's tiny and frail looking, SHES a little spit fire when she gets riled up!
She smiled back at me. Wiping her tears away she breathed deeply.
Then she leaned back against me and I rapped my arms around her tiny waist.
I breathed her delicious scent.
She smelled of honey and the forest.

I felt her sigh, and I couldn't help but lean over and lightly kiss her pink lips.
I felt like I was in heaven, sparks were flying through my body. But a good things must come to an end. And I slowly pulled away, not wanting to push her out of her comfort zone.

She blinked a couple times, startled by my movements.
But slowly a shy smile took place in her beautiful face.
I chuckled a little at how cute she looked...

Then there was a loud bump near the back of the truck. I wiped my head around and let my eyes darken. Feeling the familiar sting as my eyes shifted into my Treants form.
And what I saw nearly stopped my heart and made Xavier gasp in fear for out mate.

I quickly pulled her small form closer to me as I took in the sight.

Vampires. Every where. On the sides of the truck. Behind it. And one has even jumped on the bed of the truck... Causing the loud bang.
The scariest thing was that I couldn't see the road behind us because there was so many dead bodies running behind our truck.
