With A Hint Of Magic

Old Friend

I can't find a picture that looks the way Robin looks like in my head. He would have brown, shaggy hair, green eyes, around '5,10' ish (a little taller than Allexia), and good looking.
- Shapeshifters are one of the good guys(on Allexia's team) as can change into any living creatures.

The next few weeks passed in a blur. Learning new magic and new spells.
How to use magic without saying anything. And how not to loose control of them.
We became stronger. Faster. Powerful.
After the fifth week of this I started to sense my surroundings. I was able to tell when people were near me.
There are only three rules about magic.
1. You can't bring back the dead.
2. You need to know your endurance.
Magic takes strength and energy. If you use too much, you can die.
And 3. Never underestimate your opponent.
The weakest wizard can kill you with the right spell.
Rule 3 scared me the most. How can you tell if someone is stronger than you? I also learned how to use lots of weapons. My favorite was the sword.
My aunt had an older does that was passed down from mother to daughter, but seeing as she doesn't have any children that it is mine. (The picture at the top)
Danny liked the dagger better, but was decent at the bow and arrow. Out aunt drilled us into the ground and picked us up for tomorrow's lessons. We learned fast. It was like she knew something we didn't. And they scared the hell out of me.
But on the seventh week I sensed someone sneaking up on me when I was taking out the trash.
My training kicked into overtime as I ducked down and pulled out a dagger from my belt loop. I his behind the dumpster and waited until the person was close enough.
Then I dove, catching him by surprise. Before he could do anything I was on top of him and had a blade to his neck.
" Who are you? Is there anyone else? How did you find us?" I said. Then he laughed and said,
"Alley Cat, you grew some claws!!"
I looked closer at the person I had pinned down. There was only one person on this earth who called me that and had those bright green eyes.
"Robin?? Is it really you?" I gasped out and quickly got off of him. he laughed again and said
"Last time I saw you we were in New Orleans!! And you were a lot shorter!"
I playfully punched his arm and replied
"Not everyone's a Green Giant!!"
Robin was an old friend from my home town. We were really close, but lost contact when I moved... and I had a thing for him. But those feelings must have died by now... Right?
Robin has brown, shaggy hair, bright green eyes, slightly tanned from working outside, and he is well muscled from it.
He had a bow on his back, which surprised me.
"Hey, what's that?" I asked playing dumb as I grew suspicious. He shifted his weight and said
"I'm meeting someone here..."
I just looked at him like he was insane.
"I live here!" I told him and it was his turn to stare at me.
"Both of you stop being such hypochondriacs!! Robin is here to see me. And he will be staying here for awhile. This is my niece and my nephew is inside. The ones I told you about" my aunt said to us. I looked at him surprised. And he looked like he won the lottery.
"Your a witch!!" He exclaimed, I never seen him so excited expect when he got a 100% on a math test.
"Yes, and how do you know what I am?" I asked. he quickly replied
"I'm a Shapeshifter. I'm like a werewolf, except I can turn into many animals"
I felt a stupid grin take place on my face and understanding hit me. He was one of us. He was Magical. He could change into the dog I never had. I saved that thought for later on, it was too late to do that today.
I guess I always knew something was different about him.
"I think I always knew something was wrong with you. I just thought it was a head problem..." I said to Robin, which made him laugh. Then the memories came back. And I felt the pang in my chest.
"Let's go inside. before your aunt kills us with her glare" he replied with a smile and we walked back towards my house and was greeted by my brother.
"What brings you here?" he asked Robin.
"He is here because I have asked him to. He will help me train you and join you when you start going on hunts." Jessica said. She looked tired. Like she hasn't slept in a while. I was worried about her.
Danny when to his room. That kid sure liked to sleep. I glanced back at my aunt.
Before this all started I never would have thought that I would grow to love my aunt and here I was worrying about her.
"So you're going to be spending a lot of time here with us, huh?" I said trying to start a conversation with him. He smiled a little and said
"Yeah, I guess. Why do you ask?"
"Trying to figure out how many people I have to feed in the morning" I say with a wink. I feel my insides turning all warm and gooey.
I shook my head and said to myself that I have to stop these feelings. I can't let myself start to like him again. Not after all I had to do to get over him the first time.
"Allexia, show Robin to his room where he will be staying for now. We aren't doing anything tonight. I'm way too exhausted." My aunt said. I looked at her and said,
"You okay, Aunt Jessica? You seem to be tired a lot lately" she brushed it off and quickly said,
"I'm fine. Now go and do as I have told you" and off I go leading the guy who unknowingly broke my heart to the spare. Which was connected to my room as it was added later.
I told myself that I'm going to be in trouble as my heart picked up when I felt him walking closely to my side.
I purposely led him through my room to his. As we walked into my room he looked around and said,
"I'm gonna take a limb here and say this is your room?"
I laughed and said, "Yes, your room is through that door over there. My parents added it on when we moved here." and I pointed to the large oak-looking doors.
He rubbed the back of his neck and said,
"Can I hang out in here with you for awhile? I'm not really tired..."
My heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest.
"Sure" I stammered out. I sat down on my bed and turned on the tv. I felt him sit besides me.
"What do you want to watch?" I asked
"Anything as long as I can be with you" he said. I looked at him and was shocked to see he was serious.
I quickly picked an older show that I didn't recognize. I'm not sure what to say to him so I just stayed quiet. I felt the bed shift as he turned to look at me. Then he asked,
"Why do you do that? You seem like your interested in me and then it's like you block me out. So which is it? Because it's driving me crazy!!" I felt my mouth drop. Did he actually like me? I felt my heart swell.
"I... I like you. It's just when I moved it took awhile to get over you... and you didn't even know I liked you back then, and I don't want to go through that again" I said in a surprisingly steady voice. Now it was his turn to look shocked.
"That's not fair! I didn't know you liked me. God, I wish you had said something because I really liked you back then. And I still do. If your willing to give me a chance. I'm not asking you out right now, but let me show you that you can trust me to not hurt you." He said. I was speechless. This is what I wanted him to say 2 years ago!!
And I did trust him. With my heart, so I slowly shook my head.
You should have seen his smile. It lit his whole face up. I looked at the time and said sadly,
"We should probably be going to bed"
He sighed and agreed. He got up and walked to the door, but turned around and said,
"Goodnight, Alley Cat." and then walked into his room.
I laid down on my bed and fell asleep with a smile on my face and my dreams full of him... and for the first time in awhile. I was completely and utterly happy.
