They all made their way to their assigned rooms. Not only was Ashlyn happy she got to share a room with someone she'd already talked to but Ali was just 2 doors down.
Ashlyn and Megan were putting their stuff in the room when Megan got a text. Ash didn't even notice until Megan spoke up: "Ash? We're planning dinner with some of us. You in?"
"Sure" Ashlyn nodded. Another good chance to get to know people.
"Great. I'll text the girls. By the way... We have a group chat. Well.. a few actually. One with everyone on the team and one with just Allie Long, you haven't met her have you? Kelley, Syd, Ali and I. Oh and Alex. You haven't met her either I think. Want me to add you?" Megan explained.
"Sure. And no... I haven't met them yet" Ashlyn answered.
They finally had all their stuff sorted and minutes later there was a nock on the door. Ashlyn went to open it and in front of her stood Ali, Alex, Syd, Allie and Kelley.
"You ready?" Kelley asks.
"Shit. Give me like 5 minutes" Ashlyn laughed. Megan wasn't ready either. They were a great fit. Everyone just laughed at them, knowing this would probably become a thing.
About 5 minutes later though, both of them were with the group and they made their way to the restaurant.
Ash and Ali ending up walking behind everyone else. Every now and then looking at each other and laughing about something one of the others had done.
At the restaurant they went right back into conversation. It was quite chaotic since there were a bunch of people now but Ashlyn was as happy as could be. She was absolutely terrified coming into this team but she was met with so much love that she soon forgot all her worries.
The group ended up staying at the restaurant for over 3 hours. They lost track of time just talking and making jokes. When they finally decided to head back to the hotel it was already 10pm. Considering they had to get up early for training the following day that was already too late for most of them. Additionally they'd all been drinking quite a bunch.
On their way back Ali and Ash were holding hands, laughing at some dumb joke. Because of the state they were in nobody really cared.
That was something Ali sure was happy about the following day. She began questioning her sexuality the second she saw Ashlyn. Throughout college she'd been experimenting but convinced herself that it was just that. Experimenting.
Deep down she knew she wasn't. She knew she was attracted to women but she also loved her boyfriend. It was just different. And since Kyle came out she sure didn't want to completely break her dad's world. She was fine with dating guys... Or being single for a while.
But then she met Ash. And she felt like they instantly clicked. She barely knew her but somehow... There was something... That confused her.

The next day everyone got up early for training. Needless to say they all hated that and their faces showed just how much. The only one happy was Ali. She didn't drink quite as much as everyone else and loved early mornings. She was excited for training. Which of course got her some strange laughs from the others.

The first training with Ash was mostly just testing what she's capable of. For the players and the coach. Even though she'd seen her play a couple of times and she always delivered.
Ashlyn's new teammates were impressed too, even Hope. Ashlyn was just glad she didn't screw it up. She actually had a chance of playing in a game some day. And while she'd be waiting for that she would get to watch Ali play.
Ash was mesmerized by her ability to outrun each and every one of her teammates. She'd seen her on tv numerous times before but this was different. Ali being a defender also made Ashlyn really happy because they'd have to work together a bunch. And that sure wouldn't be that hard seeing as they'd already gotten pretty close.
She was also glad that people like Pinoe and Carly were on her team and not any other. They were good, that's for sure.
After training they all sat around on the field with their water bottles, some even with food. Stretching and other rehabilitation stuff happening.
Ashlyn stuck with Ali for most of it since she didn't want to awkwardly sit by some of the teammates she barely even met.
So far so good.
