'I didn't sign up for this...'
Aether was done. He was on the verge of tears and right now, he craved nothing more than to cry. He missed his sister, he wanted to know if she was okay; if she was even alive. The whole time, he had travelled around only to find his twin. Nothing more.
So why, why does he have to help not one but now two cities out of their dilemma? Why does he have to risk his own life, so a complete stranger got what he wanted? Why does he have to sacrifice his health, for people, who didn't even bother to answer one simple question? He had helped many, hell he even saved a dragon and for what? Missing posters that were hung on the furthest and highest walls nobody would go by and a title that literally screamed he was now required to always help whenever Mondstadt was in trouble again. And now that they were in Liyue, having encountered yet another dragon, well a dead one at that, he had to deal with its assassination too? And what is he going to obtain from that? Probably nothing as well.
He didn't regret helping around, oh dear, no he was glad he could make them happy and safe. But why does he have to offer so much? Why do they demand so much from him as if he had all the free time in the world?
"They wanted to quash whole Liyue harbour? Who in their right mind would even suggest such an idea? They hear the name Rex Lapis and the word death in a sentence one time and go rabid like some kind of wild animal!"
Paimon hovered next to Aether, her high-pitched voice echoing through the whole area. Oblivious to the fact her companion was not listening to her endless rambling and was rather trying his best to suppress the meltdown he slowly felt arising. They had left Jueyun karst behind them, crossing the shaky wooden bridge that separated the many hills from the flatland.
"Like duh, sure we did drop the news about the archon's death like a bomb but can you blame an entire town for it?", she raised her hands dramatically into the air, "And what's the deal with the other speaking bird? Prisoning a literal living human body in a rock!? Have they gone completely insane now?"
Her restless monologue went on and on. Paimon was nowhere near finishing her preaching. Meeting the three Adeptus of the stone forest was one wild ride and she simply came to the conclusion they were just a bunch of crazy weirdos. She had been sure with Venti's riddle-like talk and his alcoholic problems, nothing would top him in the matter of being annoying . But will you look at that; another group of completely peculiar individuals, who were living on the peaks of unreasonably high mountains in the middle of nowhere!
As if climbing those hills hadn't been torture enough, they really did have to climb every single one of them up, because they wanted to be left 'alone'. Are they enjoying the beautiful view of people struggling while they hiked up to their residence? Were all the screaming noises from those who had fallen down to the valley, melody in their ears? What are they? Sadists?
